Southern Tornadoes: NASA Imaging Shows Storms Forming From Space (VIDEO)

Southern Tornadoes Nasa

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 04/28/11 03:10 PM ET Updated: 06/28/11 06:12 AM ET

A particularly active early tornado season has left much of the South reeling, as multiple tornadoes have touched down across the region.

The severe storms have killed over 200 and caused massive damage across Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky. The massive tornadoes have ravaged the area, reducing towns like Tuscaloosa to debris.

Some towns have instituted curfews, in an attempt to limit the potential damage from the continuing storms.

The video below is compiled from images taken by the NASA GOES-13 satellite over the past few days, and shows the storm movement across the South and towards the Eastern Coast of the U.S. It's incredible to see the storm clouds form, spread, and swirl over the past two days.

Those storms were incredible powerful. Speaking of which, for those into unusual storms, check this out....

Awesome for those viewing from above, devastating for those below. My heart goes out to those that have suffered in someway. I wish it would end. There's always something insane going on in the world these days.

Another NASA link shows the tracks the tornadoes left. http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/severe-storms-20110429.html
The tracks are visible from space.

GOES satellite meteorology is another program that Conservatives are cutting.

Any terrestrial observation program is targeted because they provide facts upon which man-caused climate change, ecological degradation and pollution measures rely. The plan is to claim insufficient data exists to make any conclusions or take any action.

Everyone is to on their own from now on, except the very rich, who cannot be allowed to fail.

Tornado associated storms can now be seen forming from cloud vapour developing over Gulf of Mexico waters where ocean dead zones linked to nutrient pollution proliferated algae are known to exist.

Increased sewage nutrient proliferated algae involves increased photosynthesis and increased absorption of solar warmth in turn being transferred from algae particle matter into water.

Empirical evidence indicates increased warmth from Gulf of Mexico water is causing increased water vapour and increased tornado activity and intensity in the region.

There are viable business and employment generating solutions and resources but not until impact and consequences of sewage nutrient pollution are officially seen and embraced by government leadership.

An initial immediate step toward solutions is to understand flood water presently flushing the Mississippi River right now, and reduce pollution of that ecosystem by reducing solid and dissolved waste food nutrient matter in dishwashing sink disposal units. Put food waste in garbage

To reduce loss of life and property damage, start fresh in America by immediately beginning to care for the Mississippi River and all catchment. Otherwise tornado and storm activity will increase and intensify as indicated by empirical evidence.

Is this all too hard for Americans these days? If data is essential to take action, science should collect it.

Put food waste in garbage

Even better, compost it and feed the garden.  I got my three closest neighbors to compost by helping them get started.

I had to watch that twice. About 12 years ago NASA's website used to broadcast live satellite feeds of earth. I haven't been able to find it again for years so I think they stopped doing it. But it was wonderful to sit and watch the earth rotating realtime. What a moment in time to be alive.

Great Video. Oops. Must be a Government Job 'eh Ryan? Wonder when the GOPER/TBAGGERS will ask to wipe NASA out too.

It's amazing something so dynamic from orbit is so terrifying when you're in the middle of it. The term awe was applicable. It was a scary day for those of us in MS and AL.

I thought the same thing! Scary from the ground! I live in metro Atlanta and had it all coming toward us. After seeing the devastation it had caused, I think most all of us were awake until at least 2 to know it had passed. Atl turned out okay as it turned out, we had hits north of us and south.

Watching the news live, that tornado taking out Tuscaloosa, was like watching the planes hit the twin towers on 9-11. Felt like my heart was ripping out. Thinking I'm next too, and having to wait for it. So very sorry for all.

It's a great video from a pure weather phenomena point of view. Starting to look a lot like the storms on Jupiter.

It's just incredible seeing the clouds all start to blow up at about the 5 or 6 second mark.
