Mississippi Tornadoes 2011: Philadelphia Twister Filmed Up Close (VIDEO)

The death toll in 5 states across the South rose to over 190 Thursday morning, after severe storms continued to pummel the region with vicious rain and tornadoes, the AP reports.

Into Wednesday night, the National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma said it had received 137 tornado reports. Alabama has been hit the hardest with over 120 deaths confirmed.

Countless videos have surfaced of numerous tornados that have devastated the region, including video of a massive tornado in Tuscaloosa, Alabama -- one of the areas most affected.

The video below show an up-close look at a twister in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Mississippi has reported dozens of deaths so far in the aftermath of this tragedy.

Well now here is an idea. Dont rebuild the destroyed buildings which are surplus to requirements, as it seems many are, theses days in the US.

Many policies insist you replace like with like. Foolishness. Aid and insurance settlements ought encourage policy holders to simply buy an unaffected house and walk away. Relocate nearby.

A friend had a tree fall on a stupidly located laundry (blocked car access to rear of a v big block), but the policy insisted it be replaced, & she is a lawyer.

OR - sensible houses of yore (& maybe the superstructure of slabs), can be sawn in half and trucked to a new set of piles/stumps/slab should the owner wish to stay put.

Nasty tho they be, they cut a narrow swathe. There should be many vacant, unaffected homes nearby in many places.

All get a benefit if sensible. Smaller Insurance payout, aid need be less, bank gets something for house, policy holder gets a house and some cash in his pocket.

Why wastefully build new when u cant sell what u got? I heard of a homebuilding big wig, who, after an industry convention in R/E challenged vegas, decided he was gonna focus on renovating and marketing existing houses for a few years.

Why do we have to wade through commercials longer than the videos?
