Royal Wedding Video: Historic Footage of Prince William's Great Grandparents In 1923 (VIDEO)

A newsreel depicting the 1923 royal wedding shows that even though it's been almost a century since the Queen Mother married, many of the traditions in Friday's ceremony remained the same.

The wedding, which was the marriage of the Duke of York to Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, features a number of similarities, including an appearance by the newlyweds on the Buckingham Palace balcony in front of an adoring crowd.

The Duke of York, also known as King George VI, was the subject of "The King's Speech," the 2011 winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon eventually became Queen Elizabeth, a title she held until her husband's death in 1952.

ARE WE INSANE?
Why we Americans are celebrating the Royal Wedding" of our occupier? The British Raj has kept us in slavery for many centuries and looted us for decades but even after 2 centuries why we are still under the Royal clout of the British Raj? More than 2 billion watched the royal wedding? Is it correct or more than 2 billion were forced to watch the wedding by switching almost all major T.V. to Royal wedding. If there was a selection, I do not think that more than few million Irish and old Brits would have watched this smoking of 800 million pound drama. After all the Bill and Cat will stay for how many days together? I bet if it will be more than 800 days!!!!!
