Shoplifting Field Trip Led By Parent: Police

NBC Chicago:

A shoplifting spree that targeted retailers like Burlington Coat Factory, Target and Walmart has been characterized by police as a shoplifting field trip of sorts.

Four children, ranging in age from nine to 13, were picked up Thursday night in Crestwood after security at the Burlington Coat Factory spotted suspicious activity and called 911.

How charming. The linked story is a good caution for parents. Children don't understand the complexities of life. When they see something shiny, pretty, and new, they want it. Parents have a duty to teach their children what the consequences of such impulsive behaviour might be. These kids are lucky to be white. If they were black, they would already be in jail. Fortunately, the parents of these children now know better, and hopefully, they can keep their kids out of trouble in the future.
