(Peter Svensson, AP/ HUFFINGTON POST) NEW YORK -- Research In Motion is releasing a new version of one of its high-end BlackBerrys, updating the Bold with a touch screen and fresh software.

T-Mobile USA says it will carry the BlackBerry Bold 9900 later this year.

Research in Motion Ltd. is under pressure to update its high-end phones as it's losing out to iPhones and phones running Google Inc.'s Android software. Last week, the company cut its earnings and sales forecasts for the current quarter, saying it's selling fewer and cheaper phones than expected. Its stock plummeted.

Like the original Bold, launched in 2008, the 9900 has a keyboard under a 2.8-inch-screen in landscape orientation. It's thinner than before, at just 10.5 millimeters, making it the thinnest BlackBerry yet.

Take a look at some images of the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9900 (below), and visit BlackBerry.com to learn more about this device.

"T-Mobile USA says it will carry the BlackBerry Bold 9900 later this year."

Really. And how is that going to work out when ATT finishes the acquisition and TMO 3G doesn't work anymore?

Um no thanks. The reason RIM is losing market-share is because they only have 1 good device with the only reasonably priced carrier in existence. The 9700 on TMO.

Unfortunately, RIM doesn't have a half decent BB on MetroPCS.

*fingers crossed*

Wow, this looks fantastic! This is exactly what I, and many others, have been waiting for. RIM really outdid themselves here with an innovative and unique phone that stays true to its iconic style. This is everything I had hoped the Torch would be and more.

It looks like RIM is back in the game.

Looks amazingly, and anti-climactically, like a Blackberry.
