Physician compensation is a very tiny expense in the heathcare picture. Most of the money goes to the insurance companies and layers and layers od CEO's, administarators, and beaurocrats. also the cost of drugs and medications is astronamical due to large pharma lobbies. Physician compensation continually goes down year after year, altho expenses and cost of living rises. Physician compensation went down again this year 22% by medicare and most insurance companies, alto premiums went up. The insurance companies, like the oil companies are making record profits year after year, and get financial assistance. Doctors make less per hour than probably all other professionals, and are probably the only ones whose payment is determined by the government and third parties. Doctors "appear" to make alot because they work triple the hours of most other workers, and do not receive any increased payment for working extra hours or late hours.
