Let's allmpetition the South to rise again. We'll ask them to secede again only this time we won't do anything about it when they do.

Thats totally nuts! I don't think prison should be a resort by any means but this is outrageous.

Well, well, this is certainly a violation of freedom of religion, now isn't it?

No education for the inmates? No math or history textbooks? No newspapers?

It would be interesting to do a study on recidivism from this institution and compare it to institutions as a whole. Quite likely it is higher here, and possibly in part due to the institutional policies.

Christians in power, it seems, are only interested in taking away liberty and promoting ignorance. Not good. Not good at all. I would go so far as to label the policy evil.

Perhaps this ruling is because in the entire state of South Caroline they only have one book! Considering the politicians from there and the state of education there, it wouldn't surprise me!

And which bible are they allowed to read?
I mean, there's the classic King James, the revised standard, the good news, the new conservative bible that leaves out the socialist jesus parts. And what about the catholic bible; it has a couple of extra chapters.
Are letters allowed reading? Do they get isolation if they read the back of the toothpaste tube?
God save us from christians.

Ironic really- "God save us from Christians"

Followers of Jesus were first called Christians in Antioch in the first century

It was a derogatory term meaning 'one who is like Jesus of Nazareth'.

The irony is that those you call Christians in this post couldn't be much further than the character and life of Jesus... and once again being called a Christian is derogatory.

Sadly, those whom you call Christians must not really know Him, because to truly know Him is to become like Him.

I did not use the capital C on christian for a reason.
People who make rules like this have no understanding of Jesus or his teachings. In fact, I'll take it one step further - they have no comprehension of the book they would force others to read. Their ignorance is in violation of everything he taught.

They don't allow inmates to see any movies or TV shows with violence in them because they're afraid it'll rile the inmates up...yet the Bible is full of violence.

In order to continue keeping people ignorant, we MUST ban books, except the Bible. This way, people will stay filled with the Holy Spirit and remain IGNORANT. Wasn't this done during times of slavery? Keep people ignorant by imposing corporal punishment on them if they're ever caught with a book in their possession. I can be smart, but I'll never allow you to come close, much less surpass me in the smarts department. Shame shame shame on South Carolina. Still living in the 1800's, and if you get away from the larger metropolitan areas of SC., you will see what I mean.
