Fidel Castro Slams U.S. For Killing Osama Bin Laden

Fidel Castro

HAVANA -- Fidel Castro has criticized the United States for the manner in which its forces killed al-Qaida mastermind Osama bin Laden, saying it executed him in front of his family.

Castro says in an opinion piece published Thursday in Cuban media that the raid inside Pakistan by a team of U.S. Navy Seals also violated that country's laws and offended its dignity.

The former Cuban leader says he abhors all forms of terrorism. He notes that he expressed solidarity with the United States despite decades of political differences following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

But the 84-year-old revolutionary says the decision to kill bin Laden and bury him at sea "has turned him into a much more dangerous man."

Juan Wilfredo Soto Garcia, arrested and beaten last week, died on Sunday, one of the literally countless thousands who have died at the hands of the Cuban state. "Literally countless" because the control of the state over media and information prevents anyone was verifying or examining any of the deaths that occur during interrogations and detention. In spite of the many good things that the revolution has brought to the island, this kind of political oppression is not good, and don't we all look forward to a day when the Cuban gov't doesn't use this kind of brutal intimidation to control the expression of political opinion?

I am not sure which is more intimidating, the alleged repressive government in Cuba or the brutal attack of the media that has ensued in the past 72 hours against the Cuban police. A 46 year old man who likely died of natural causes and without giving any proof or evidence except hearsay, the media proceeded to charge, judge and declare the Cuban government guilty of a beating that never took place, except in the minds of blood thirsty exiles who were trying to create another martyr for their cause.

Oh, that's an easy one to settle. It's the one that results on corpses and intimidates families; it's the one that refuses to let black Cubans be classified as "political prisoners," but rather houses them with the criminal population in order to silence them; it's the one your rhetoric whitewashes.

Castro is a joke, He needs to understand that we don't play Reindeer games here in America, You mess with us and we will Hunt you down without warning like a theif in the night. Did Castro forget that we were attacked on 9/11, Shouldn't he be in a nursing home, I think he's not making a whole lot of sense now a days

'You are the company you keep.'

Defending Bin Laden's right to hide? Castro, you're the company you keep.

Now this man forgot the assassination of the 3 black man in 2003 just three days after the give up in their intend to hijack a boat. The crime committed in international airspace against two unarmed Brothers to the Rescue's planes. The "13 de Marzo" and Rio Canimar murdering, the hundreds killed by anti-personal mines in Guantanamo (in Cuban managed territory) and many other crimes committed against Cubans.

He now speaks of sovereign countries, after sending and supporting guerrillas in Africa and South America. This man doesn't deserve any attention or propaganda.

Castro's style would be more like take him around the corner. Then say,"I wonder whatever became of Osama Bin Laden?"

When did Castro turn into this human rights guy? Now that he isn't running Cuba he's forgotten his tyranny... Gimme a break Fidel

Fidel should read (or re-read) Reinaldo Arenas' "Before Night Falls"....so should the pro-Castro posters.

Fidel, coming from you this really...really hurts. You and Osama will have a lot to talk about when you meet each other in the afterlife. I'm sure the conversation will be extremely warm.

lets see what castro does when his country is hit with planes. Who the heck is he to be passing judgement on any other country or leader? Half of his population has migrated to the U.S. If we are so horrible....why are his citizens coming here?
09:48 PM on 05/06/2011
False beliefs about the kind of place America is the reason I imagine they're coming here.

You need to do some research on the impoverished lives the Cubans lead because of Castro. I don't see any Americans rushing to live in Cuba to run away from America.. Here's an idea: you be the first to go live in the wonderful, free, abundant country of Cuba.

The man surrounded himself with family knowing full well what the outcome could be. Armed has many definitions. A suicide bomber with hidden explosives, wired rooms, armed henchman, they are all arms.
Conventional weapons are of the past. This man used our own aviation transportation system as his weapon of choice.

He and his brother should be next or leave Cuba.
