A Farmingdale bartender said he went to grab some soda and turned around to a terrifying surprise.
"I had a loaded gun pointed right at my face," Charlie Ball told CBS New York. "It was almost disbelief. I said, 'put that away.'"
He was, mind you, speaking to a police officer.
Nassau County police officer Ritchie Heffron has been suspended without pay after the incident at the South Main Street Pub, which occurred while he was off duty.
"…The investigation confirmed misconduct…including the inappropriate display of his firearm…The officer’s weapons were removed, and the officer was suspended without pay,” the department said in a statement.
Heffron's friend said he'd never expect this kind of behavior from the officer.
"He's a great guy, great neighbor," John Danna said. "Never seen any violence in him. There's definitely another side of the story."
Friends tell MyFoxNY that Heffron has checked himself into rehab.
