Adriana Lima, Heidi Klum & Gisele Top Forbes' Top-Earning Models List (PHOTOS)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 05/06/2011 1:49 pm   Updated: 07/06/2011 5:12 am

From our friends at Forbes comes this highly-official, self-esteem-boosting list of the world's top-earning models.

Coming in at number one...well, we won't ruin it for you, but let's just say she made more than twice as much as Heidi Klum, who took the two spot at $20 million. Also on the list -- newcomers Candice Swanepoel (you might remember her as the "scary skinny" Victoria's Secret Angel) and Calvin Klein face Lara Stone. The pair replaced Doutzen Kroes and Miranda Kerr, who both took time off to have babies during the last year. And still probably made a lot of money.

Overall, Forbes points out, the top ten gals made $112 million in the last twelve months, up 30 percent from what they brought home last year.

Take a look at the list and head over to Forbes.com to read more.

I have a ton of respect for Heidi Klum. I think her marrying Seal says a lot about her character---not that being in a mixed relationship necessarily makes one noble---but the fact that she didn't allow personal or societal racial prejudices to get in the way of her selection of a partner speaks volumes about her character. As long as they have been married I am sure she has had to deal with racists who refuse to do business with her, hurl insults at her and Seal, give them dirty looks in public, and generally treat them with extreme disdain basically because of who Seal is. Heidi must indeed be a fortitudinous person with a lot of love for Seal and her children as well to endure in spite of the still-prevalent racial prejudices of the day.

Well that's just the thing but um Gisele doesn't just "model". In fact she hardly modeled last year at all. She owns a Hotel in Brazil, Has her own Sandals Line and Skin care line that have (well obviously) proven to be very successful. She's an entrepreneur.

I'm not knocking models. I know there's more to it than being a coat rack and canvas. I've known a few working models who made decent green (and actresses and prostitutes, for that matter -- all intelligent women), but still, I've never heard of paying a woman $45M to do something that wasn't related to her looks, and that just makes me sad. I'm not saying we shouldn't pay models well -- it's fine that these women are wealthy; a lot of them came up from nothing -- what makes me sad is that I've never seen a list of the top paid women scientists, doctors, lawyers, executives, or professors.

It would be nice to advertise that there's a posh living in those professions for women, too, so girls at least think they have more options than clawing your way up from the bottom by the literal seat of your pants.

Skinny white women seem to be in demand for some weird reason.

I believe they do work hard like most of us, but to make that kind of money for what they do is ridiculous. The pay scale in this country is grossly unbalanced.

All that money some of them need to go buy a double cheeseburger and put on a couple pounds. When you are seeing breastbone instead of breasts, that's just not right.

I see their legs and wonder, "When was the last time most of them walked anywhere besides down the runway. Their legs have no muscles at all."     Not pretty, and typical of that kind of malnutrition, many of them have eyebrows that have grown out of control like those of an old man.

That's right, that's all models do, stand around and look pretty and people throw money at them. You clearly know a lot about the fashion industry.

I should be outraged that there's a career path where women actually make more than men? Not even a little bit, I think all these girls rock mightily, more power to them!

Is it just me or were most of these just dreadful photos? Note that I'm not talking about the actual women, I just suspect many of them have looked a lot better and I know for a fact that Adriana Lima has.

If God really exists, would he pay beautiful body 45 million or to women who is actually doing
great things to improve other's life for the better?

Well, the answer to that question depends upon whether you think there's anything to the idea that men were made in God's image. If they were, then, yeah -- he absolutely would. He'd call it a tithe. Hustler would be a holy doctrine, beer would be a sacrament, fraternities would be ordained ministries, and Hooters would be a house of worship.

For me, this is an excellent reason to be an atheist. For many others, this would be an excellent reason to get right with god.

God bless these women.

Think of it like this: the basketball players and football players make big money too (and all it is is a game).
The models make big money too because they are beautiful and can walk the runway and make money for the clothing industry.

these are all games that we love . . . it's fine . . . it's fun . . .
