Chris Matthews: Hillary Clinton's Explanation Of Bin Laden Photo Expression Lacked 'Humanity' (VIDEO)

Chris Matthews criticized Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her explanation of her expression in the instantly iconic photo that showed her seemingly spellbound, anxious reaction during the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden on Sunday.

On his Thursday show, Matthews played the clip of Clinton saying she wasn't sure why her hand was over her mouth in the picture, taken by White House photographer Pete Souza in the Situation Room. While most have speculated that she was registering shock or fear or some kind, she said, "I am somewhat sheepishly concerned that it was my preventing one of my early spring allergic coughs. So it may have no great meaning whatsoever."

Matthews--who, of course, has an extremely checkered history with Clinton--took issue with this.

"I guess I understand why the Secretary of State said what she just said there," he said. "But my guess--and my God--what's wrong with having a decent reaction to a horrific picture? People are killing people. I prefer humanity. And that's all I'm going to say."
