Salma Hayek Debuts Nuance Cosmetics Line For CVS

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek debuted her 100-piece Nuance cosmetics line for CVS on Thursday, Women's Wear Daily reports.

The actress quickly dispelled any sentiments that this would be another celeb-dabbles-in-beauty disaster, explaining to the fashion newspaper, "I took three years off my [acting] career to work on this. This is not something that required 14 hours. Nooo, baby. This has been a full-time job."

She added that she, herself, attended appointments with labs and suppliers "who didn't mind some crazy Mexican coming to them over and over and over again asking them to change something," noting, "I am not easy...I mean, I am a double Virgo."

The line was inspired by her grandmother, a cosmetologist who learned from the greats at Vichy in Paris and used Native American and Mayan treatments in her products. It's all slated to hit shelves come August, priced between $7.99 and $19.99.

What do you think?

SURE! Sounds like she put a lot of thought into it.

So, what was wrong with old-ance?
03:32 AM on 05/08/2011
salma probably has great products, but CVS overprices everything, so they won't sell.

Salma Hayek is one of the greatest natural beauties of the world. Good to see she has some independant business goals doing something she loves because of her grandmother. I'll definitely try the cosmetics when they come out in August.

Hey Señor, Salma claims to be extra virgin, but I do not think this is possible unless she went to the Virgin Islands and got herself rebushed.

I'll try a few of her products. Solidarity! I am Mexican-American. Perhaps her colors will even work for me.

CVS and Rite Aid are places one goes to buy toilet paper and wait in line for too long, not buy cosmetics. What do you think of Salma's new line? Weigh in @imeanwhat http://bit.ly/mQ1rZi

There's a wonderful book out on the market that passed among my friends and me 20 or more years ago called "Save Your Money Save Your Face." It's about the cosmetics industry. The drugstore stuff is no different from the department store. Dept. store cosmetics are packaged more sophisiticatedly and branded more heavily, but they contain the same ingredients. Since reading that book, I've probably saved myself thousands of dollars.

Agree. I definitely find some great buys at my local Rite-Aid. Cannot remember the last time I dropped money at a department or specialty store, including Sephora.

I agree totally. The only thing I'll pay more for are the products that aren't tested on animals. The rest is really all the same.

Totally get that virgo thing...lucky for me I'm on the cusp of Leo and Virgo so I'm not too extreme of either ones. Virgos just can't let it go sometimes. We can be neurotic.
