Twin Girls Born In Single Body with Two Heads In China (VIDEO)

Two Headed Baby China

First Posted: 05/10/11 09:09 AM ET Updated: 07/10/11 06:12 AM ET

BEIJING -- A hospital in southwestern China says conjoined twin girls with a single body and two heads have been born at its facility.

A staffer surnamed Wang at Suining City Central Hospital in Sichuan province says the girls were born Thursday.

Wang said Tuesday the parents, who are farmers, did not want to have the babies at first, fearing they could not afford to keep them alive. She said they transferred the twins to a hospital in the nearby metropolis of Chongqing to be examined by experts.

The local Huaxi Metropolis Daily reported the twins weighed 9 pounds (4 kilograms) and measured 20 inches (51 centimeters). They have two spines and two esophaguses and share other organs. Doctors were quoted as saying it would be nearly impossible to separate them.

Bless the children, may they have a long fulfilling life...and may the press leave them alone!
03:24 AM on 05/21/2011
what the press needs to do is hep them instead of exploit them. they need to be doing some reaaly good investigative reporting as to why this has happened. I am serious, Monsanto and biotech genetically modified organisms need to be investigated to see if these migrant farmers were in contact with any of their products in the fields, those comanies are now doing their own safety testing. the usda is allowing these comapnies to safety test products that they added roundup weedkiller to the genetics and that have already been proven through independent safety tests to cause birth defects and organ system failure. these comapnies go into third world and overpopulated countries where people arent well informed about the bad things their crops can do to whatever consumes the food from them. then people wonder why pesticides are showing up in breast milk and why babies are deformed, or why people are getting sick from organ system failure or having severe allergic reactions to food not normally allergic to. these products end up in 80 percent of your food, from sugar beets corn potatoes alfalfa cocoa etc. the animals we consume are cosuming these things as well and we consume them. pretty soon we will not have to be worrying about if social security is going to be available when we are older, there wont be anyone around to collect it.
03:24 AM on 05/21/2011
now we have to worry about this managed healthcare if things will be covered, what timing for this monsanto crops and biotech to be putting out their products and the givt allowing them to pass their own safety tests. it looks like a conspiracy to me, population control, dont need the death panels when you have monsanto and biotech controlling the population with their poison plants and roundup weedkiller corn and sugar beets. where is erin brokovich when you need her?????
07:21 AM on 05/19/2011
oh whoa is the future of our population. Monsanto and biotech and their genetically modified crops. they place roundup weedkiller in the genetics of the seeds of the food we eat and the in food for the animals we eat. Wonder if these migrant farmers were working in fields that grow monasanto gmo crops, corn, alfalfa, tomatoes potatoes you name it. there is roundup weedkiller in the food you eat and you dont even know it. it has been linked to birthdefects and is showing up in mothers milk. monasnto targets third world countries to grow this poison because the people are undereducated and dont have the money to sue them when their babies come out like this. I wonder how many countries that are overpopulated, are allowing monsanto in to grow thier toxic food as a method of population control.

My god. I'd rather be dead if I were them. Taking an educated guess, should they survive into childhood, they'd live a very short life, have many physical complications, be ostracized by everyone, be unable to coordinate their actions (due to the other nervous system), and not be able to manage many basic tasks we do without thinking every day. Life will be hell for them. Yes, I'm really wishing they don't survive.

You have clearly never heard of abby and brittany hensel. Everyone deserves a chance at life.

To all you " believers " out there...a so called " God " that would allow or make this happen to innocent children is a psychopathic fiend, not a friend to humanity and you are all fools to worship it.

Only time will tell how well these sisters will fare. A lot depends upon how well developed their internal organs are and how well their immune system can fight off infection. Their parent's livelihood wouldn't have permitted the "around the clock" care of such vulnerable infants. May GOD be with them.

Of course they don't want them, they wanted a boy. We have girls like that here in the USA. They learned to drive last year.
04:48 AM on 05/17/2011
Hanna, you've stated your opinion a billion times. Nobody cares whether you've posted it this many times - it doesn't make it any more important. The article already says that the parents weren't planning on keeping them in the first place. What matters is that these twins are taken care of and are able to live a fulfilling life.

A fulfilling life in China as conjoined twins???? what is that a joke? You know some american couple will adopt them after the parents leave them at the hospital. This is a public forum and I can post whatever I want to and how many times I want to.

It looks like a very uncomfortable life so far.
03:54 PM on 05/16/2011
Abigail and Brittany Hensel seem to be pretty happy with their lives and have basically the same condition. They even drive a car.

Also genetics is not the cause of identical twins or conjoined twins which are a subset of identical twins.
08:28 AM on 05/16/2011
Genetics is the answer to "Why did this happen?"

The environment "might" play a role in effecting our genes, or it could be a completely random, beneficial/detrimental, mutation. Either way mutations and irregularities in our genetic sequences(rRNA/DNA) have been occurring since the beginning of life itself. Simply put, Evolution.

We can ...... sit here and feel sorry for these girls and blame this or that, or we can think about it on a positive note .... their birth and life is a living testiment for how one can prosper and overcome adversity and potentially offer many more scientific revelations on how the human body works, especially two seperate yet fully functioning nervous systems, Simply profound!!!

As long as the parents love these girls and the family shows that love and care, they should grow up to live a healthy and somewhat normal life. They will be better individuals because of this diversity. Diversity promotes strength.

That's why you have two breasts. I don't think the parents will keep them.
02:41 AM on 05/18/2011
I doubt the parents will keep them either. Access to the kind of health care these twins will need for the rest of their lives is prohibitively expensive and almost non-existent in rural China.
10:18 AM on 05/15/2011
So will each twin control one half of the body? Or does one twin control it all? Or can either twin control the body? I guess we might have to wait until they get older to see.
