Bloomberg News Expands White House Team

Margaret Talev, who's been covering the Obama White House for McClatchy Newspapers, will soon be heading to Bloomberg News, according to a source with knowledge of the move.

Talev joined McClatchy’s Washington bureau in 2005 following reporting stints in California with the Sacramento Bee and the Los Angeles Times. During her time in Washington, Talev has focused on Congress and national politics, and assumed the White House beat after covering the 2008 Obama campaign. She's slated to join Bloomberg’s White House team on June 6.

It's not surprising that Bloomberg News continues scooping up political reporters. The organization wants to be viewed as the world’s “most influential” news outlet, so it's essential that they have a significant presence in Washington. Currently, Bloomberg News has around 275 staffers in its D.C bureau -- roughly six times the size of The New York Times’ operation in the capital.

In addition to reporting, the news organization will seek to influence decision-makers in Washington through its forthcoming editorial page, Bloomberg View. Top Washington journalists such as the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg and the Washington Post’s Ezra Klein will be contributing to Bloomberg View.
