Nick Offerman Of 'Parks and Rec' Eats A 'Ron Swanson Turkey Burger' On Fallon (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/13/11 12:59 PM ET Updated: 07/13/11 06:12 AM ET

There are many reasons why Ron Swanson from "Parks and Recreation" is one of the best characters on TV right now, not least of which is his voracious appetite for red meat in all forms. On a recent episode, Rob Lowe's character Chris, a health nut, recommended that Swanson (played by Nick Offerman) switch from beef hamburgers to turkey burgers. Swanson's response: "Is that a deep-fried turkey leg inside a beef burger? If so, delicious."

Offerman proved that he's a man of his word last night on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" by indulging in a real-life Ron Swanson Turkey Burger with a glass of scotch to wash it down, in true Ron Swanson fashion. Watch as Offerman, Fallon and guest Maya Rudolph discover how a red-blooded American man eats a turkey burger.

Oh come on, it's not just red-blooded American dudes who like red meat. If I go too long without it, I just don't feel right. Not in a "addict off her drug" kind of way but in a "I'm missing some vitamin or other" kind of way.

Flat iron steak's about the nicest way to get B12 that I can think of off the top of my head. Unless a porterhouse has more of it. It *does* contain quite a bit of oleic acid, the same monounsaturated fat that's in olive oil. More so than saturated fat, actually.

yeah yeah... a boring health lesson. But it seems lots of people are in need of it. We have this wacky notion now that red meat kills people.

"It's shaking!" This bit was kind of dull as the prospect of eating of the burger--and eating that fine mess--is what's funny.

I don't watch TV. I saw the picture and thought it was Lula da Silva, the former president of Brazil!

You should. Not all of course, but many shows are superb. Case in point: Parks and Recreation,

Last I checked, TV was optional, not a moral imperative.

This article is incorrect. It says that Ron Swanson is one of the greatest characters on TV now. Please remove the words "one" and "of" and take the "s" out of "characters" to make the article accurate.
