May 15 (Reuters) - The IMF said on Sunday its No. 2 official, John Lipsky, will step in as acting managing director of the global institution in the absence of IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who is charged with sexual assault.

IMF spokesman William Murray said Lipsky will meet with members of the IMF board on Sunday to inform them of developments. The board is the main overseer of the IMF's daily operations.

"In line with standard IMF procedures, John Lipsky, first deputy managing director, is acting managing director while the MD is not in DC," Murray said in a statement. "Mr. Lipsky will chair the informal Board session today." (Reporting by Lesley Wroughton; Editing by Eric Beech)

Innocent until proven guilty. DSK is a mensch. He is a very busy man. No wonder he was in a hurry to leave the hotel. Leaving behind a cell phone is not a crime. This reeks of a set up. DSK needs to beat this and go on to beat Sarko. May he become President of France. Long Live DSK!

Does reek of a setup, but don't you think a man in that position should have been a little smarter? Could buy anything. Stupid, and if that stupid, shouldn't have so much power. Thinking with the wrong one. I understand human, don't understand stupid, he had too much to lose. We expect, and should, better decisions from the people in power. They took the job, and probably begged for it, should live up to it.
