Strauss-Kahn Allegations Could Have Serious Effects On Global Economy

Imf Strausskahn Scandal

First Posted: 05/16/11 04:17 PM ET Updated: 07/16/11 06:12 AM ET

This weekend’s detention of the IMF’s chief on allegations of sexual assault has implications that go well beyond the impact on Dominique Strauss-Kahn’s (or, as he is commonly known, DSK) international prestige. They could also impact the IMF, France, market uncertainty and the well-being of the global economy.

IMF is guilty by assossiation. I do that with Romney and robust Mormon support for gay rights. Fair game.

Nice.

If they don't cause trouble with their greed, they do it with their "willy."

Don't think so. The predatory practices of the IMF put it under a cloud without any help from anyone or what may or may not be a sex crime.
Strauss-Kahn was leading the bank away from practices that devasted developing nations and paved the way for exploitation that made the IMF one of the most hated institutions outside the US.
Is it coincidencel that he was dragged off of a plane in the banksters home town and that his replacement is a former VP of JP Morgan Investment Bank? That he is being tried in the press ala Julian Assange?

The IMF has BEEN under a dark cloud for years...this whole story just justifies the "cloud" a bit more.

Be careful what you say about the IMF, you could be labeled a domestic terrorist. In the U.S., the "PATRIOT Act" criminalizes peaceful anti-globalisation protests. Demonstrating against the IMF or the WTO, for instance, is considered "a crime of domestic terror". Under the Act, "domestic terrorism" includes any activity which could lead to "influencing the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion".

Can Judges say anything about IMF? Are they excluded? (just checking, maybe they are not)

You would think Judges could nail the bank if it was breaking the law. Very, very interesting question. If I wanted to sue the bank would I be accused of Domestic Terrorism? How does effect Journalism and investigation regarding IMF activities?

The IMF deserves to be investigated. People need to know the harm this organization does to so many countries and millions of people every year. They are a bunch of economic neo-cons who promote trickle down voodoo economics to the entire world. Unfortunately too many governments either buy into it or have no choice.

It somehow has to be Obama's fault, right? Because according to Republicans, everything else is his fault.

Wonder if he was set up to be discredited because he told the truth on "Inside Job."
You know, "Inside Job," the award winning documentary movie that explains how we arrived in the financial crisis and enduring recession. There have to be some big people with big money who don't want this man believed.

ah yes, another of the naive who think this guy is the swell socialist---------yea, no doubt at the route is either a conspiracy to bring down this "good man"-----(who by the way enjoyed ALL the fruits which CAUSED the financial crisis), or just another conniving woman/minority hotel maid, whatever------------

it won't bother me at all, if the IMF takes the beating it justly deserves-------albeit, the effect on a struggling global econ.at this time is far less than swell----------(El Erian who wrrote the article may be the only no-nonsense person to take it over, but I am wondering why he should bother, as he has enough money, status, and power)---------the amusing thing is that DSK is considered a "socialist", when he is nothing more than a fraud--------3k a night suite, 150k car, and lots of perks-----it fits for the ripper-offers of the IMF------who fraudently pretend to be doing something for the poor countries and their people------
