Confirmed: Gwyneth Paltrow On June 'Bon Appetit' Cover

First Posted: 05/17/11 04:53 PM ET Updated: 07/17/11 06:12 AM ET

After all the rumors, photo evidence finally confirms that Gwyneth Paltrow will grace the cover of the June issue of Bon Appetit. Food blogger Pim Techamuanvivit tweeted the photo of a smiling Gwyneth in a light blue dress this morning and The Feast has an exclusive look at the June issue.

In his first completely redesigned issue, new editor-in-chief Adam Rapoport is signaling at least a small shift in editorial focus by having a celebrity on the cover. In his letter from the editor, he explains, "So putting people on our covers is something we feel good about. It's something we'll do a few times a year. Of course, they've got to be the right people, and they've got to love food. Paltrow is famous, but she also loves to cook for her friends and family; she's as comfortable and confident in her kitchen as she is on a film set."

The Gwyneth feature, titled "The Girl Can Cook" consists of an article, photo spread and several recipes. The June issue also features Chefs Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli's suggestions for Copenhagen and British chef Fergus Henderson and his wife Margot's instructions and recipes for a Sunday roast. Check out The Feast's preview of the June issue here.

So, who is next? Sheryl Crow or Eva Longoria?

With so many good chefs in this country, why on earth would BA feel compelled to put Mrs. Paltrow on the cover. Disgusting! I will not buy one more BA mag until I see a complete 180.

Given the premiere issue of Bon Appétit under Adam Rapoport's new direction, I would have to say that he's taken a perfectly good food magazine that was respected by chef's and home cooks alike and turned it into a dumb version of Family Circle. Oh well, I still have my Food and Wine subscription.

Dear Adam Rapoport:

I've been reading BA since 1972 (it was founded in 1965 - I was 3) and subscribing since 1978. The magazine was all about food, food, glorious food and the lastest food "toys." It was my inspiration to become a chef. The writers were people who actually knew food, wine, and other intimate culinary goodies. Celebrities weren't welcome between the covers because we all know celebrities cannot cook. This was a magazine about real food for real cooks.

Since you took over (your first issue was May 2011), ads have gone from all food and appliances to mostly makeup, scantily clad skinny women draped over pool lounge chairs, dog food, laxitives, eye surgeries, and Botox. What does any of those have to do with food?? Your "editorial" credentials were covering men's fashions at GQ for 10 years. What do you know about food? Nothing.. and it shows.

The magazine did not need redesigning or shifting. It was perfect the way it was. Now it's become just another fad celebrity knock-off that may last a year under your direction: the magazine will either crash & burn because of it's severe fluff or you'll be fired. Guess which I'm praying for.

Adam, you ruined a perfectly good food magazine. When I'm up for renewal in September, I can comfortably just say no to the rescribe.

I could not have said it better. I was contemplating subscribing to BA but not after seeing GP from all people on the cover. Disgraceful! Shame on you Mr. Rapoport, and honestly Ms. Paltrow I think a lot of people out there just have had enough of you please go away!

Oh thank goodness. I was worried sick over this.

that's why I no longer subscribe to Bon Appetit.

But in fairness, most magazines have become nothing more than glossy ads for luxury products and or prescription drugs that I don't use or need. I understand advertising, but when you have to thumb past page after page of ads to find the continuation of a recipe or a story… they are just not worth my buying. I bought the magazine. I don't need to be bombarded by the ads.

Poor decision. I read cooking magazines for actual recipes and cooking ideas not for a celebrity. I don't even subscribe to a celebrity type magazine. Luckily for me my BA subscription is up for renewal. I may rethink renewing it.

Why she wants to be the next Martha Stewart and not the next Meryl Streep is baffling.

Bon Apetit usually has minimalist, visually stunning covers...This looks like an issue of OK! that might accidentally get tossed out when I'm done reading it along with the other celeb gossip mags that don't get kept like my typical Bon Apetit issues. Boo.
