Maria Shriver Taken Under Oprah's Wing

When Maria Shriver learned that news of her estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger's love child went public, she may have been dining in Chicago with friend and media queen Oprah Winfrey.

RadarOnline reports that Shriver received a phone call while dining with her two daughters, Winfrey, Gayle King and Stedman Graham at Chicago's RL Restaurant Monday evening.

“Maria had a very animated, very emotional 15 minute phone call,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “She was very upset and from what she was saying, it was obvious that she was getting some stunning news.

Shriver was in Chicago for the taping of "Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular," which brought dozens of celebrities to the Windy City Tuesday evening. She did not mention her husband during the taping.

"You have given me love, support, wisdom and most of all the truth," Shriver told Winfrey at Chicago's United Center. "And I know I'm not alone in receiving those gifts from you."

Michael Sneed of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Winfrey has "taken Shriver, one of her best friends, under her voluminous wing," and is looking to place the former NBC anchor on her OWN network.

Shriver responded to news that Schwarzenegger fathered a child with a woman on his household staff more than a decade ago in a statement Tuesday:

"This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children. I ask for compassion, respect and privacy as my children and I try to rebuild our lives and heal. I will have no further comment."

After 25 years of marriage, Schwarzenegger and Shriver recently announced they were separating. The Los Angeles Times reports that Shriver moved out the the family's home when Schwarzenegger confessed his paternity.
