honestly their system maybe one of the worst ever.  It wastes time and money and is just awful to the point where you don't want the job.  You can apply for the same job two different agencies and be made to pass the same test on two different days.  Then apply for another job with the same agency and be made to take the same 3 hour test again a few months later.  All this for a job that is below what one would normally make.  Attorney position, $56,000 3 years experience same city private sector $160,000.

I'm not sure it's getting easy, it appears that the federal government choose who they want in those positions.

All the paper work one has to fill out is discouraging enough. Many of the announcements require a person to have a Ph. D or jobs that seemingly does not require a bachelor's degree.

If looking for a security position, you may as well forget it now, especially if you have been out of work for the last three years, late on some bills, foreclosed on, etc., even if you have a Ph. D.

The degree is not a deal breaker, experience in the field can offset that.

Paperwork is hard and meant to discourage.  They actually have writers that will for a fee, write your resume to hit the KSAs needed.

Clearance is another thing.  A Secret Clearance really isn't hard to get, if you are honest.  Lack of work, late on bills, foreclosed will always be a deal breaker.  But then you wouldn't want someone in a position of trust that owes money, do you?  Most of the spies that have been caught were for those reasons.

It's like that at the State levels too. It's easy to apply for California government jobs but you have a better chance of hitting the lotto than getting hired. Not to mention they don't even bother to tell you that your app has been rejected so if you don't hear back from them in a couple months, just assume you didn't get the job.

Very inefficient system.

As long as the rich keep corrupting the politicians, there'll always be a high demand for volunteers for the U.S military.

I have a Federal job.  MFP-11 money.  Hiring is not easier.  Hiring has always been a game.

Most of the higher Federal jobs are written for a person.  It's not hard to make it through the filter.  All the keywords.

Then you get to choose the best canidate.  And then you are told who to hire.  The system is a fraud at the higher levels.

This article fails to mention the freeze on new hires.

My husband applied for a fed job a few years back. His friend was the one hiring for the position. He was 5th on the list....everyone ended up turning down the position except for candidate 4. She lived in PA and had to commute to DC. She was two hours late to the interview, had a somewhat sketchy work background but....he had to hire her. She was a minority, a women and had a military back ground (which, I agree, military should get preference.) Needless to say, she lasted 6 months, due to lateness......Which is why the fed gov is messed up. They should hire people who are best qualified for the position......Our friend had no choice, he had to hire the next person in line......

My experience with hiring is based on "Direct Hire", meaning the hiring section gets to pick from a bunch of candidates.

Federal Workers, Disabled, Veterans or Spouse of Military is the pecking order.  Most jobs won't go to the average Joe.

Alot of jobs aren't even advertised.  I've seen someone wearing a uniform one day and GS the next.  I myself fit under that description.

I've seen jobs that I knew were opening, and then they didn't appear untill after they were filled.

Another thing about the Vets or Reservists, they get to include their Active Duty time and get 30 days a year paid Military Leave.

Lots of opening in the military for The Industrial-Military-Financial Complex. Just, think, if they reintroduce the draft... full employment to fight Rich Men's Wars...

Knew opportunities await you in exotic lands such as Pakistan, Syria, Libya, Yemen, and other places yet to be designated as terrorist strongholds! You may not even have to leave home to find terrorists in the future! They may be your friends, family, ex-coworkers, and union members!* Enjoy the growth offers to develop personal skills in the military.

Excitement. Adventure. Death in Rich Men's Wars await you!

Most people that I know who work for government, do so because of the nice pension plan. But why would anyone want a federal job now when Turbotaxtimmy is looting it? That really stinks for the workers who are depending on this in their old age. Geithner and Bernanke should be fired NOW.

Actually, fired is too light a sentence... I believe you are looking for something like this...

The corporate prostitutes inhabiting Congress, The Presidency, The Supreme Court, and now invading State Houses everywhere.. along with their corporate masters and the idiocy of Globalism...

should be destroyed.

Yes, that's much better! Let's strip them of their ill-gotten gains before we destroy them though.
