Great book and--yeah, I agree with King--pretty damned good movie. I don't see 2011 Hollywood improving on what 1976 Hollywood did.

The book of King's that REALLY creeped me out (and that is hard to do) is Gerald's Game. I'd love to see that as a movie.

I wouldn't be able to watch it. That was one creepy book.

It will be difficult for any actress to top Piper Laurie's performance in the original. Not sure any director could top DePalma, either. So many great King books that haven't been adapted, why not do one of those, Hollywood?

Again, Hollywood can't come up with an original, so they remake another movie....

Doubt it could be as good as the first, although the book was awesome!

An excellent book and an exellent movie...if you like horror. If not, then we have people like you making comments that they don't understand the hype. But I would say, take into account what you do like and then look at it from that point of view and you'll get what I'm saying. Have a good day.

Okay, I thought I liked horror, but I guess I like a 'thicker' plot and more suspense. One of my fave books last year was "The Executor" by Jesse Kelleher and it was pretty horrible! I love "Geek Love" and all things Joyce Carol Oates. But they are more dark, than horror? Would you call Zombie, horror? I also like Chelsea Cain, only read one of her books and one Dan Simmons and liked it also.
Are these 'thrillers' or 'suspense' and not horror?
Is it possible for you to give me a brief description of the genre?

thanks !

There was available a TV version of "Carrie" that was more "faithful to the book"

What's the point? The first movie was FAR better than the book.

Depends on your point of view. I loved both, but liked the book better and would have preferred the movie to more closely follow the book, as othe King novels have. So I guess that would be the point. King did not have any choice when it came to the movie of Carrie, but as he gained wealth and power, he was able to have much more say in movie adaptations of his subsequent novels.

The film was fantastic, however I don't think it was superior to the book, just different. It's like with The Shining; I see the film and books as separate and non-competing entities.
