10. The Anchorman - Rhode Island College
1 of 11
Much to my disappointment, the mascot of Rhode Island College doesn't sport a red suit and mustache and definitely isn't Ron Burgundy. RIC's Anchormen (and Anchorwomen) are actually sailors, which is a way to honor Rhode Island College's scenic location in Providence.

How can any list of strange mascots NOT include the Kansas Jayhawk (because no one really knows what the hell a Jayhawk is)?

I am a student at WKU and Big Red is a great award winning mascot. Even though most people have no clue what he is, he is loved by all. Go WKU and Go Big Red!!!!!

The Wabash College 'Little Giants". It is an Indiana school, but was there a connection between them and Illinois Senator Stephen Arnold Douglas also known as the "Little Giant" who pushed throught the Central Ralroad Act of 1850 and the Kansas-Nebraska Act of 1854 and debated Abe Lincoln?

The Little Giants name for Wabash College came from the fact they are a small all-male college (800 Students) that made a habit of beating much larger colleges/universities. The intercollegiate sports teams at Wabash have always been very competitive and they were known (years ago) for beating much larger colleges, such as IU, Butler, Purdue, U of Louisville, Northwestern, etc. Wabash won the first intercollegiate basketball tournament in 1922 and were dubbed World Champions. Also, in the first intercollegiate football game in Indiana, Wabash beat Butler 4-0.

Loook at the bright side.. you could be a "HAPPY CAMPER" from Happy Camp H.S. in California.

That said. I kinda like the W K U mascot, looks like a guy you could party with and the kids would love to be seen with for a photo Op.
