I don't care much for Beyonce or her music but I respect her. I'm not gonna talk down on Beyonce because I know how many dedicated (and overly sensitive) fans she has.

Michelle Obama should be using her political influence to help her husband the President fix the economy, create jobs, and bring our troops home; or to continue her fight against childhood obesity, which I fully respect. Not to prop up some celebrity who's already rich and successful and therefore does not care about the rest of us. How's that helping anything? How many jobs is Beyonce creating?

Once again, no disrespect to Beyonce and I congratulate her on the award. But our First Lady needs to stay focused. {{-_-}}

Michelle Obama can use her influence as she sees fit.
Bey contributed to Michelle Obama's get fit program and that is reason enough to thank her. If you had seen the segment yesterday you would actually see Michelle give props to Bey for all of her work, INCLUDING being a role model to women everywhere, which she is.
Bey owes you nothing and has no obligations to no one.

Michelle represents all of us and therefore should NOT just use her influence as she sees fit. That's like driving on the freeway and instead of controlling the steering wheel, letting the car just drift as it sees fit - even if it's off of a bridge.

Once again, you're making the argument about Beyonce. I'm not talking about her; I'm talking about Mrs. Obama. Just because Beyonce helped one of Michelle's programs doesn't mean anything. How many jobs has Beyonce created?

As far as Beyonce being a role model to women everywhere (*snickers*), we'll discuss THAT some other time. But for Michelle to invest so much time and energy into some celebrity is just irresponsible. I think Barack needs to keep Michelle out of the spotlight from now on if that's all she's going to do. Last thing we need is more commercialism. {{-_-}}

And to you all questioning her worthiness of this award, tell me a female artist who has 16 Grammy Awards or remotely CLOSE to matching Bey's record. *waits*

I thought so.

Bitter irony is that SO MUCH HATERS on here seem to know that Beyonce don't deserve this award? REALLY? Well, I would like to see who among you get an award and then when someone say you don't deserve it, see how you act! The sad reality is that haters always want to piss on someone else parade. It's like President OBAMA receiving the Noble, well he killed Bin Laden, seems to be like he deserve it, he save the world economy seem like he deserve it. He accomplish more in 2 years than any President except for Lincoln, seem to like like he deserved it. WOW, Beyounce, is a super star of epic proportions, she deserve it, glad it DID not go to a non deserving star like say someone who always in prison or REHAB!

I don't care for Beyonce's music, but shes accomplished a lot at a young age and seems to have her life together. So I say kudos for her earning this award.

From Billboard's webpage:

"The Billboard Millennium Award will recognize Beyoncé's career achievements and influence in the music industry, from her role as the frontwoman of Destiny's Child to her three-chart-topping solo albums, which have collectively earned her 16 Grammy awards and ASCAP's Pop Songwriter of the Year award. Previously, Billboard named Beyoncé its Woman of the Year in October 2009, and Top Female Artist of the Decade in December 2009."

They have decided that she is worthy of the honor.

Enough with Beyonce already- and Bono should let something happen once in a while without his presence!

Awesome. beyonce deserved every ounce of theat award. her performance tonight was sheer perfection. You could see the passion and hard work that went into that performance. Who can actually compete with this chick? Seriously?

Love Riri but her performance was lame. Britney did horrible and Nicki Minaj doesn't need tos tep on a stage again EVER!! lol All 3 ladies need to hit the dance studio.
