Glenn Beck Launches Online Deals Site

Glenn Beck

As his departure from Fox News comes ever closer, Glenn Beck is branching out into yet another new business territory: the world of online deals.

Beck's company, Mercury Radio Arts, announced Monday that it has launched Markdown.com, a Groupon-like site that will offer discounted deals on various products. The first deals are for Chocolate.com and LifeLock, an identity theft prevention company.

The deals will also be promoted across Beck's media empire, including on his news site, The Blaze.

In a statement, Beck said, "as a small business owner myself, I understand the daily challenges that entrepreneurs face and how frustrating it can be to get well-deserved attention for a great product or service. With Markdown.com we will be able to feature these great local and regional businesses right alongside some of the most well-known brands in America.”

The launch of the new site adds another plank to Beck's booming personal industry. He made an estimated $40 million in 2010 from his various businesses, including his speaking tours, books, publications and his websites. In his opus on Fox News, New York magazine's Gabriel Sherman reported that 90 percent of Beck's income last year came from these ventures.

Even if it's not a Beck website, Markdown.com is so full of fail. Its design looks like some cheap GeoCities made by a high school amateur who just learned HTML from playing with Myspace. And there are only 3 deals so far, seems like businesses don't want to work with him either.

I'm a new poster here, and I'm quickly getting the impression that conservatives are not welcome here, and pro-Glenn Beck comments are quickly removed. This goes against the purpose of an open forum.

I would boycott them, but I don't buy products like, "Varmit Away," "Possum Belly Poultus," "Evening In Mudsuck Perfume" "Critter Catcher" or any of the other sponsers Beck is likely to attract.

One word to the companies associated with Markdown and Beck.

Boycott.

The guy is cashing in big time. All the talk, all the pomp, all the spectacle, all the outrage. It's all just about making money. He doesn't believe a word he says, just like every huckster that has come before him. It's sad to see how many people on the right and left have taken the bait.

He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Now how would you, or anyone, know this. Beck seems sincere to me!

Eddy333, No one in his or her personal life either, is completely sincere. It leaves us too vulnerable to what's out there. I think Glenn Beck talks from the heart. Last night he had his final "Founding Fathers" show. I think one of the reasons our country has lost its way is because we fail to revere those responsible for the inception of our nation ...and God knows the mainstream media liberals have no regard for our earliest Americans. Not politically correct! Thanks for your comment.

Let's see Glenn Beck shilling crappy, survivalist products that are really just a scam. Can someone explain to me how this is a "new gig".

I don't think having Beck's product endorsement is going to entice me to do business with someone. Rather the reverse, actually.

I've got a great product.
It's called "Beckfree."
Tune him and his products out, and voila, Beck free.

You know on the retro channels at night, the cancer treatment centers, the gadgets, the MLM marketing adverts. You see, I didn't have cable so I never saw Beck's show. But NOW I might be cursed to have to sit through a commercial with him? Worse than Peter Francis Geraci:
