Obama's Europe Trip 2011: President Expected To Meet With EU Leaders And Push For Democratic Changes In Middle East (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 05/23/11 12:46 PM ET   Updated: 07/23/11 06:12 AM ET

President Obama and the First Lady touched down in Ireland Monday morning for the start of a six-day tour that will take them to four countries.

As the Associated Press is reporting, the president's Irish visit includes talks with President Mary McAleese and Prime Minister Enda Kenny as well as a visit to the village of Moneygall, the ancestral homeland of Obama's great-great-great grandfather.

The remainder of Obama's trip will include a similar mix of one-on-one meetings with European leaders -- including Queen Elizabeth II, French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski -- along with a stop at the G8 Summit in France, during which he is expected to urge U.S. allies to help advance the movement for democratic change offered by the "Arab spring" uprisings in the Middle East.

Europe and the US clearly will dictate to the Middle East what to do. Colonial times have never ended.

Don't the Irish teach the history of the terrible genocide and the ruling class in Ireland in the 1840's? The native Irish were prohibited from having businesses. His G-Father was a well-off shoemaker and businessman. Several years back, the Anglican Bishop of Ireland apologised for their congregations of the time during the famine, for not helping the starving masses who were eating grass and being buried by a million+, many where they fell by the roadside . I personally heard the good Bishop's speech on the radio whilst driving to Shannon Airport. What fawning fools the Moneygall people appeared to be. Are they just publicity seekers, and uninformed? Obama's G-father could have stayed and helped, but he fled in 1849 and invested his funds here instead. For shame..

Well, birtherism didn't work, so why not go after our President's ancestors. Heck, that Eve ate the apple...tsk, tsk, tsk.

Prime MInister Russell's free market fanaticism doomed the Irish in the 1840s. When the Conservative Peel was PM the fallout from the blight was manageable, but when the Whig Russell took over he declared that the free market discipline is what the Irish needed. The results were massive starvation.

Is she standing on something or is she taller them all of them?
02:42 PM on 05/23/2011
Taller, with heels.

Not a great out. The sleeve length is not flattering to say the least.
04:32 PM on 05/23/2011
Sleeve length? You didn't get your official list of what to criticize Mrs. Obama about on this trip?
