Michelle Obama Wears Ralph Lauren To Dinner In England (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 05/25/2011 5:00 pm   Updated: 07/25/2011 5:12 am

After wearing white Tom Ford at Tuesday night's state banquet in London, Michelle Obama picked an off-the-shoulder onyx gown by Ralph Lauren to play hostess at a dinner chez Winfield House, the residence of the Ambassador of the United States of America, on Wednesday.

She paired the number with a tangled, multistrand necklace, a flower bracelet and diamond earrings, all by Tom Binns. Her hair was side-parted and pinned at the nape of her neck.

Quick Poll

Michelle's dress:

LOVE it! She looks amazing.

Like it, but liked last night's gown more.

LEAVE it! Eh...

Our first First lady and our President are Beautiful People. Michelle have the Correct Jewelry on, she have a dinner Ring on, why would she have two rings on, we would say this she's not wearing fake Jewelry, since the President and Michelle been in the White House they have been given about a Million Dollars or more worth of Jewelry and other Items (All these things was Gifts, in which all Presidents and the families are Presented with Gifts) , now we don' know if they can use it while they are in the WH., we don't think so and they have to Pay Taxes, Saudia Arabia King, gave Michelle a 324, 000 dollars Ruby and diamonds Necklace and Earrings in 2009, the Presiden, the President and First lady can buy real Jewelry. The President Posted all the Gifts he and his Family Received in 2009, Plus the Security is right there to take over the gifts and Protect the President.

I love how POTUS is so proud of his Irish heritage and made it known in his speech to the Celtic people. He is a very interesting and complex person and they are a great looking couple.

She looks gorgeous, BUT the dress does not look properly tailored. What are those bulges just below her waist? It looks like bunched-up shirt tails of a tucked in blouse. This style is perfect for the first lady, but the execution let her down.

The gown is lovely, but I'm not a fan of the jewelry. I have two problems with it. First, I just don't like the tangled look because it clashes with the meticulous detailing in the gown. Second, I don't think gaudy diamonds are appropriate for the First Lady of the United States, especially during a recession. I had the same reaction to Nancy Reagan's finery, so it's a general feeling of mine, not specific to Michelle Obama.

You're entitled to your opinion about what looks good, of course, but the jewelry is rock crystal, not diamond. Check out the Tom Binns website if you don't believe me.

Thank you. It does say diamond earrings. I still don't like the look, but at least I don't have to worry about the size of their Tiffany credit line.

Jaw-droppingly gorgeous, as always. My favourite shot is the 'sign the book' one...sure, Mrs O seems to be wearing a rather fabulous titfer, but it's the grin on the Duke's face that gets me! I bet his grandsons'll get that one put on a mantelpiece somewhere in Buck House. (As you know, he is referred to as 'Phil the Greek' among the less reverential, not in an anti-Greek manner, rather as in 'Louie the Fish', or 'Paulie the Mad Axeman', and so on. He sure looks like he has enjoyably nefarious deeds on his mind in this pic.

My question is do you think we will ever be able to go back to the librarian look for the first lady or the cowboy for the president. I don't think so. Every time I see them or hear them speak I think, "Thank God I don't have hide." Laura Bush was nice, but in the class, style and looks department Michelle has her beat hands down. Oh, and don't even get me started on cowboy blunder verse President Obama.
