Andrej Pejic On Dossier Cover: 'I Don't Think It Should Be Censored At All'
New York Magazine's Party Lines caught up with androgynous model Andrej Pejic this week and asked him about his recent Dossier cover that was reportedly censored by Borders and possibly Barnes & Noble.
We previously spoke with Dossier Co-Founder and Creative Director Skye Parrott who said that the bookstores asked for all copies of the magazine featuring Pejic taking off his button-down while his long blond locks are rolled in curlers to be placed in "opaque poly bags because even though they knew Andrej was a man, he looked too much like a woman, basically." Read more about that here.
Pejic told Party Lines, "I think the question really isn't the gender of the person on the cover, it's whether it's porn or it's art. And clearly, it's art, so art really should not be censored in a democratic society. But, you know, I have just been named the 98th sexiest woman in the world, so it makes the situation a little bit confusing for them." But, he added, "I don't think [the cover] should be censored at all."
