Career Bliss Rates 'Top 20 Hot Jobs For New Grads'

First Posted: 05/27/2011 8:37 am   Updated: 07/26/2011 5:12 am

Career Bliss, a website devoted to workplace happiness, has released their "Top 20 Hot Jobs for New Grads." Their ranking system evaluates career choices based on the number of open jobs, salary and something they call a "Bliss Score" or a happiness indicator.

Career Bliss has more on their methodology:

Data evaluates the key factors which affect work happiness, including: work-life balance, one’s relationship with their boss and co-workers, their work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, their daily tasks, and job control over the work that they do on a daily basis. The data accounts for how an employee values each factor as well as how important that factor is to the employee’s overall happiness.

Below, check out our slide show of the "20 Hot Jobs For New Grads." Do you think workplace happiness is important? Weigh in in the comments section,

And none of those jobs looks appealing...le sigh. Surprised sales is on there. I'd rather chew off my foot then do sales again.

I guess my problem is I have no interest/hate/ or am disgusted by many of those positions (disgusted by loan officers).

I have a better headline

"Jobs That Make College Grads Happy - Anything That Doesn't Mean Waiting Tables"

Great article. Another one I found that details starting salaries in various entry level positions for college graduates and how long it will take to pay off your private student loan.

Would you mind posting a link to it? Considering that I strongly doubt that many of those were starting salaries. If anything you're looking at the 5-10 year experience mean for the industry.

Yes, can you please post that article?

Moral of the story...if you want to be happy after college, be miserable during college and major in engineering, health, or business.

I feel like pharmacist should be up there. I always tease by PharmD friends about how they'll probably end up making more than me even though they're not "real" doctors. Heh.

Who paid for this ad? Bliss my foot. Working in the for-profit sector as a sales person is anything but bliss. Notice, they're all in the private for profit sector.

Good observation. When I get out of college, even though I'll be in a health field, the last thing I want to do is to work in the private sector.

20 hot jobs... sounds nice! But, unfortunately, not everyone will be able to get it after graduation.

Too tightly-tied to the school and state budgets; last hired, first fired, must teach the curriculum given, test prep and lets not forget having to get along with the principal or get matched to a horrible class the next year. Only those who really want to teach should teach.
