Boulder, Colorado Gets 5th Placing In Amazon.com Top 20 Most Well-Read Cities In America Study

Boulder Cracks Top 5 Of Amazon.com ‘Well-Read’ List

Amazon.com has released a new study: the Top 20 Most Well-Read Cities in America, and Boulder, Colorado comes in at number five.

The study was compiled from the sales data of all book, magazine and newspaper sales in both print and Kindle format since January 1, 2011 on a per capita basis in cities with more than 100,000 residents.

The list is dominated by college towns as The Huffington Post/AP reports with Cambridge, Mass., home to Harvard University topping the list as the country’s most well read city. Alexandria, Va. was ranked second with schools like George Washington University and Virginia Commonwealth University’s satellite campuses. Berkeley, Calif. in third and Ann Arbor, Mich. in fourth, both with big college campuses.

Boulder also got a special not-so-surprising designation in the study, thanks to its healthy, fine food-loving citizenry:

Boulder, Colo., lives up to its reputation as a healthy city by topping the list of cities that order the most books in the Cooking, Food & Wine category.
