'Harry Potter' Movie Mashup: 'Through The Pensieve' Chronicles All Eight Films (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/27/11 11:45 AM ET Updated: 07/27/11 06:12 AM ET

To have seen all seven -- and coming soon, eight! -- "Harry Potter" films over the past decade is to have gone on a magical journey on screen, and watched, perhaps even more magically, the stunning growth and maturation of the film's highly successful stars.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint -- not to mention Robert Pattinson, he of just a single "Potter" film -- have all avoided the pitfalls of teen stardom while growing into mature top liners in their own right. And as fans prepare to pack theaters to watch the final chapter of the series, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," it's worthwhile to look back on the epic trip through the Wizarding World.

YouTube artist Genrocks created this four minute homage to the films, cutting together the seven films and clips from the eighth to create a brief peek through the pensieve of "Harry Potter" history.

Genrocks wrote:

Over the years, the Harry Potter series has had a very special place in my heart. With the final film coming out in 50 days, I thought it would be a good time to look back at the journey we've taken with the film versions of JK Rowling's unforgettable characters. A retrospective spanning all eight films, this tells the story of the bravery of children, the folly of the powerful, and the overriding force of love.

I remember I had heard about the books but until I saw a woman on a plane with the first Harry Potter book I too thought they were for children. Over the years I have watched all the movies at least twice each, enjoyed reading the books and as a reader am so glad this series has exposed young people to the art of reading again. At 62 I have never lost my imagination, love of fantasy and magical stories....and don't believe I ever will :) Thank you Ms Rowling and thank you Harry, Hermione and Ron for many hours of enjoyment.

I remember reading the first book in the park and a woman came up to ask how old my children were. When I said that I had none, she gave me an odd look and walked away. Oh well. hahaha I love the books and the movies are a lot of fun. I am sorry to see it all end.

If Harry Potter is a wizard with magical powers, wouldn't he have conjured some sort of Lasik surgery spell on himself to lose the glasses by now?

I've enjoyed all the movies although I have yet to read the books. Looking forward to the last film.

Wow, you will be in for such a treat when you read the books. As good as the films are, they can't capture all that the books have to offer. You won't be disappointed about having a preconceived picture of the characters and locations, because the casting and sets were EXACTLY what one would picture while reading. I've read each 2x on my own and 1x to my kids. I almost picked up Deathly Hallows for a 4th time, but I remembered I just read it about 6 months ago!

I know I'm going to cry when I see the last movie. I'm not as big of a fan of the movies as I am the books, but it's going to possibly (probably) be the last thing Harry Potter-related to be released. After this there will be no more midnight movie releases to gather at with other fans. Like the release of the last book, I don't know that anything would make me miss it. Especially being there with my friends.

I think I'm actually going to cry at the end of the last movie. I am 20 years old and I grew up with these books and was about the same age as Harry, Hermione and Ron when each book came out. I actually felt as if I grew up with them. I'm so sad that this movie will be the last piece of the saga that I have come to know and love. J.K. Rowling is officially one of my personal heroes, and I think she should be knighted, sainted, or something for single-handedly getting kids to love reading again. I look at this Twilight crap that they have and it drives me nuts when they compare it to Harry Potter. Stephenie Meyer writes like a middle-schooler. J.K. Rowling proved, like other greats before her such as C.S. Lewis, that you can write a great children's book without dumbing it down and I think I owe my love of reading to her.

I guess because I never paid attention to Harry Potter (I know I'm horrible my brothers have all the books and have seen all the movies) I never realized that the kids in the movie are now adults. The pictures from the 1st to this movie is insane. I never read a book but I've heard only good things about the books and movies...maybe I should see what this fuss is about because it's been going on for years

Read the books. I'm 44 and I loved them too. They're well written and not your run of the mill children's book series.

I remember years ago, a friend of mine told me, "I've got this great book I'm reading. You have to check it out." I looked at the cover for a minute, then replied, "It's a children's book." She said, "Yeah, but I think you'll like it." She's gone but I still thank her for introducing me to this wonderful series. I've followed it as each book has been published and it's the only series I bought in hardcover. Each movie has been just as amazing and I still am amazed at the world J.K. Rowling, formerly described as "a welfare mother," has created for all the world to love and enjoy.

I was the same way. I got the first book as a gift and I thought, "why would I ever want to read a kid's book about witches and wizards?" Boy was I wrong. Became one of my favorite series.

What? No scenes with the original Dumbledore?

Not only that but no Hagrid either, only his voice a couple of times.

The most magnificent story put to film -on the big silver screen since Star Wars, and it has been a gift watching Harry Potter age before our eyes and become the famous boy now man who ...can wake up every day knowing the joy and thrill it's been to see his movies, and the enchanting adventures his story has brought to the world of make believe vs. reality . The movie makers are unbelievably brilliant, and each movie is more intense than the last, and each character is written so well, that even if one character is lost in one of these movies it's felt as if we knew them all our lives. That is the magic of the author and the power she has given to this amazing success. Inanimitable imagination.
