Rudy Giuliani To Visit New Hampshire Ahead Of 2012

Rudy Giuliani 2012

By BETH FOUHY   05/27/11 05:36 PM ET   AP

NEW YORK -- Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is heading to New Hampshire next week, stirring further speculation that he may jump into the 2012 Republican presidential field.

Giuliani will spend Thursday in the state, which is scheduled to host the first presidential primary next February. He'll headline a fundraiser for the state Republican Party and have lunch with several GOP activists. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will formally kick off his campaign in New Hampshire the same day.

Giuliani was widely praised for steering New York through the tumultuous days after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. He sought the GOP nomination in 2008 but placed a distant fourth the New Hampshire primary that year.

A CNN poll released Friday found Giuliani topping the field of potential GOP candidates.

I am a left-leaning independent and support Giuliani 100%. He has to be labeled "republican" if he's not democrat (remember Ralph Nader or Ross Perot?) so he gets a bum rap. The man did incredible things for the city of New York long BEFORE 9/11. Look at the business development, crime reduction, etc. He was the most knowledgable person in the primary debates of 2008. Giuliani was the only candidate randomly asked to explain the shia/shiite conflict. He gave a correct, detailed answer, including the history of their differences - wow, a thoughtful, knowledgable person who doesn't care only about sound bites. I doubt the others would have fared well with that question. K.A.D.

Oh boy, I just can't wait for him to speak about how he 'saved the day' once again.

That story gets old. As Ed Koch said afterwards, any competent mayor woudl've done the same thing.

america's mayor should stay in NY..ask all the sick workers who have died or are very sick becuase Rudy told them it was safe to work the ground zero sight....along with Christie Witman both should help responsible for the many deaths they allowed to happen...while he did much good for new york. he was a dictator and a corrupt one at that by the time his term was running out he was totally hated..lived there during his tenure....plus dressing up in drag, his marital situation, make for interesting clips...the NYPD has done much better after his administration, the FDNY had horrible communications at ground zero because he refused to give them the money to replace outdated equipment..many lives could have been saved with updated equipment...he would be a disaster..not to mention Bernie Kirik..think he's still in jail....

It would be interesting to see the "9-11" candidate run against the guy who got Bin Laden.

A move by Rudy to help his brand and professional career. He would not carry NY in a national election.

Guilani says he has his speech impediment nearly improved. For a while, every sentence he said had 911 in it whether it was a fit or not.

Rudy can try in the year 9011. He might have a good chance.

For the holier than thou republicans that would never stand for Newt because of his personal "failings" best they take a look at Rudy and his failings. In some respects he make the Newt look like a boy scout.Such short memories. This is the guy who brought his lover into the house that his wife and children were living in while his wife and children were there. This is the guy who promoted the security skills of a guy (ggod friend and colligue) who is in jail. But I guess if he can produced a birth certificate that humors the rubes he just might get the nomination.

Thanks. I must apologize for the typos. Have a hand injury and I didn't check before I hit post comment. Rudy leaves so much to be desired I can't believe anyone with half a brain would be swayed to support him. But it seems that desparation is setting in. This can only get better the closer we get to the election.

Rudy is the epitome of GOP candidates. He uses fear (9/11 9/11 9/11) and lives his life very differently from the way he says we should live ours. He's Newt Gingrich with a smaller head ...
