If point is to get to know and show respect for people of different beliefs, Atheists should be included. They seem to be pointedly excluded here.

Atheism cures religious terrorism!! When we accept the fact that there is no supernatural Deity, and we humans are going to have to rely on one another, there may be peace in this world.
Our existence here and everything in our universe has a natural or scientific explanation.
We must take responsibility for our destiny; rather than relying upon a supernatural being.
We must all be concerned with ecology, social justice, integrity and transparency in government, and separation of church and state.
We are enriched by art and music, motivated by compassion and affirm the dignity of every human being.
We place our hope for the future in reason and science.

Sounds very sweet and innocent Interfaith movement
where everybody holds hand no matter what religion the person next to you have.
but the truth is in here

Numbers 31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. 18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

This one is quite outrageous.

Deuteronomy 21:18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them: 19Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place; 20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. 21And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

This is absolute bull----! I have seen these ecumenical projects in the past, and they are so rife with hypocrisy. In the simple minds of the Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindis, etc..., these delusional religionists are all saying "My way is better" "I would love to convert the other person to MY way" Why don't these medieval, delusional idiots grow up, and become atheists? Their synthetic religions have caused enough grief in the world -- and they are making MY world a dangerous one!

Have you taken the time to look at any of these interfaith organizations? I know for a fact that some of them do work with atheist and not in the "lets be nice to atheists so we can convert them" type of way.

By calling them deluded and insulting, you are being as intolerant and immature as you claim them to be. Not understanding why they don't all become atheists is the same as someone asking why isn't everyone hindu or muslim or christian.

I think that any and all collaborative and interfaith dialogue is a step in the right direction. Positive dialogue, shared in an open and safe manner, can better help all faith groups understand one another and help us all move our global community forward in a progressive and peaceful way.

Oh, and don't say that it is because no atheists every write in, because that's not true. I have suggested a lot of atheist articles and never heard back from anyone. If you want an atheist writer, I would gladly do it or suggest many others. HuffPost discriminates against atheists. It is that simple!

Yes, but we are relegated to back of the bus. HuffPost rarely publishes atheist articles and we constantly have to fight to get our comments approved. I always have to save my comments on my computer and check to see if they get posted. Many times they are not. It's about 50/50.

As the head of the Philadelphia Coalition of Reason, I think it is a shame that HuffPost published anti-atheist articles every day and rarely allows atheist articles to be published. In fact, I have a hard time just getting my comments published! It is discrimination against the faithless.

I have to call BS on that one. There are more atheists in America than there are Jews and yet there are more Rabbis writing anti-atheist articles on HuffPost than there are Christians writes on HuffPost (who also write anti-atheist articles). I know there are atheists who suggest blog/articles to HuffPost and HuffPost never responds. I am calling shenanigans!

This is indeed a valuable and needed movement.

I've been involved in one for many years. It began as The Coalition of Jews, Christians and Muslims for Peace and Freedom, then All Faiths, and is now The Humanitarian Coalition for Peace and Freedom, at http://cjcmp.org

Only when we acknowledge the universal truths that are at the core of all religions and all natural laws, will we have true religious freedom.

I am astounded as to the understanding as can be found at The Coalition of Jews, Christians and Muslims for Peace and Freedom http://cjcmp.org. The growth of the Spirit of Truth can be felt by all of us who are "awake in the Spirit" and led by it. It is an exciting time to be alive and a true pleasure to engage in fulfilling our rightful destiny as children of God, a destiny we all share. This hope shall never die and so it shall be fulfilled. We all see God from only one little tiny perspective - our own. Each perspective on God is like one little tiny thread of a viewpoint upon an immense, incomprehensible whole. Like the blind men and the elephant, we all get only a little piece of the reality. Among other things, we engage in interfaith work, as Karen Armstrong says, to truly understand the depth of our own ignorance. Love, blessings and peace to you.
