Tom Ford's next act will be an hour-long documentary slated to premiere on Oprah's OWN channel come June 24, Racked reports. Ford is no stranger to the talk show diva's cult; he and Colin Firth sat down with Winfrey to discuss "A Single Man" before the 2010 Oscars.

This time around, cameras chronicled the designer-turned-director from his super secret womenswear show in N.Y.C. last fall to the recent vernissage of his flagship in Beverly Hills. Danica Lo writes:

"Visionaries: Tom Ford" changes things entirely--Ford opens up to the audience in a way that we never imagined possible, revealing his own struggles with depression, mid-life crisis, and professional reinvention. He also reveals that he takes between three and five baths a day, a fact which, somehow, makes us really like him.

At some point in the episode, Ford confesses, "I have, sometimes, mixed feelings about what we do because we convince people they're not perfect enough. We promote materialism, which is ultimately not the thing that brings you happiness in the world."

He adds, "I could absolutely die tomorrow -- I would not care. I feel like I've lived, I feel like I've had a great life. There are lots of things I'd like to do, I don't want to die, but I'm comfortable enough with having lived and having experiences that death does not freak me out at all."

According to IMDB, James Cameron, Lady Gaga, Annie Leibovitz, Tyler Perry and will.i.am were each filmed for their own "Visionaries" show.

3 to 5 baths a day wastes a lot of water and is bad for the environment. Shame on you Tom Ford!

He's trying to wash away the real world, which being beneath him, he refuses to live in.

Oh the horror, thinking that people might not buy overpriced stuff they don't need. You might be labled a Communist. Stay away from the RWNM and Fox News.

I have no mixed feelings for Tom Ford.

My feelings for Tom Ford: ooooooh, yummy Tom Ford, so handsome and brilliant and always beautifully dressed, very thoughtful and insightful, studly, in possession of such gorgeous dark eyes, and... best of all... on a superficial level a chameleon who, at heart, and on a profound level, has something intangible yet unchanging deep within.

He's a treasure.

I am not normally this enchanted by anyone that I do not know personally, but for some reason or other, Tom Ford is just magical to me. I think if I met him, I would smile prettily and then faint dead away at his feet.

Mmmm, Tom Ford.

:)

The man is barley forty, why would he have lines? He also promotes his own skin care line.

Understand the promoting materialism in a way, but isn't fashion also art? It's beauty and fantasy, dreams and hopes and wishes. If we didn't have the beauty he and many others create, life would be so flat, dull and we'd want to die. While it's over promoted and advertised, there is a need for fashion, art and beauty. We need to stop and pay attention whether we can afford it or not, it can inspire us.

Be inispired by nature and the damaged state of our planet, rather than a bunch of self-absorbed NYC UES phonies dicatating what's "of the moment". Fashion is all fleeting, empty and forgotten in a nanosecond.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CAN INSPIRE US!
07:03 PM on 06/04/2011
Ok, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I also wouldn't invite you to a party. Life itself is fleeting, empty and forgotten in a nanosecond, which is precisely why both intellectual and artistic pursuits have equal merit.

Just as all environmental/social activists aren't self-absorbed, self-congratulatory, condescending and boring (one assumes), nor are all of those interested in the art of clothing design "phonies". Fashion, art and social responsibility don't seem to me to be mutually exclusive and in fact all would likely be elevated through collaboration rather than petty and ill-informed snipery. (I may have just invented that word, but I like it, so there it is)

Really? Someone in fashion who begins to think complexly about what he does? He better keep it to himself. He'll be shunned otherwise by the lock-step strivers and "Emperors New Clothes" set.
