Bill O'Reilly: Weiner Story Is A National Security Issue (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/02/11 09:57 AM ET Updated: 08/02/11 06:12 AM ET

Bill Oreilly

Bill O'Reilly weighed in on the Anthony Weiner controversy on his Wednesday show--and said that the scandal has grave national security implications.

O'Reilly admitted that the story is "dumb," but said that the FBI needed to get involved in finding out whether his account was hacked.

"National security is involved," he said. "It's clear from the WikiLeaks controversy that some very bad people have compromised U.S. national security by hacking into government websites." O'Reilly then mentioned other examples of hacking, including the recent PBS fracas and his own website.

"The USA simply cannot stand by and allow members of Congress to be attacked by cyber criminals!" he said. "Weiner's case is dumb. But if he was hacked, that's serious. So the FBI should be involved and should tell the folks they're on the case."

So the Loofala guy has a problem with the Weiner Man? There is no way that pic is Weiner. The only thing shorter than a Jewish man's "endowment" is an afican american's "to do" list. (Lisa Lampanelli)

I am eternally grateful that, to the best of my knowledge, no one I know watches this stain, and I wouldn't even know who he was if it wasn't for the media covering his every kweef.

I don't watch O'Reilly's show or anything else on Fox. But I took a look at the clip embedded with this story, and I have to say I agree with one of the points O'Reilly made. If Weiner, a US Congressman, was hacked (and I believe him when he says he was), there should be some kind official investigation (of the hacking, not of Weiner) for security reasons. And, by the way, Weiner has handled this whole thing pretty badly, with his ridiculous claim that he can't say for certain whether the photo is of him.

FBI should be investigating the skirting of justice by paying multi million dollar payoffs(see Mackris v oh'really).

If I were Bill, I'd steer clear of this issue.

This whole thing is a non-issue. He didn't break any laws, the recipient says she doesn't care (except for the media coverage) so there's no victim, and even if he sent it (which is still up in the air), who cares? How does this affect his policies or ability to govern? O'Reilly is correct--it's a dumb story.

I've always admired A Weiner ever since he stood up for the 911 first responders.

I believed him when he said he was hacked. I lost all faith in him, though, when I saw him on Rachel Maddow, hemming and hawing, and babbling on about Photoshop, and maybe this and maybe somebody else doctored a picture, and blah blah blah.

It is his weiner. He took the picture. I have no problem with that. Who among us hasn't taken a self portrait??

Did he send it? That is the only question that remains. Unfortunately, I have to believe that he sent it to a 21 year old college student.

Fess up Wiener...

That really is one of the more realistic photos of Billo that I've seen recently.
Mouth open.

Come to think of it, it may be hard to find a photo of him with his mouth closed.....

repubs cannot get enough Weiner! It is the lead on all their sites

Which shows the neediness of conservatives to find something to complain about. "Hmmm, their damned policies seem to be working. I know! Let's focus on another possible sex scandal!"

Bill has Weiner envy. His shorts don't quite fill up, even on a warm day.
