Denver's Best Free Outdoor Concerts

There’s music in the air, thanks to the slew of free outdoor concerts throughout Denver-metro this summer. Check out our five favorite series of concerts in the park; many kick off this weekend.

Jazz in the Park: How about some jazz overlooking Ferril Lake? The summer line-up at the bandstand near City Park’s pavilion includes Rekha Ohal, the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Convergence, and blues and jazz phenomenon Hazel Miller. Coolers are welcome, but food is also available for purchase onsite.Sundays, June 5 - Aug. 7 at 6pm; freeCity Park, 17th Ave. west of Colorado Blvd.

Concerts at the Crescent: It’s a small-scale concert arena that’s hugely popular with music lovers. Throw a blanket on the sloping green of this Tech Center amphitheater or next to the nearby creek, and enjoy sounds ranging from surfer rock to country to funk to jazz. Acts include dance and R&B band Tunisia, The Margarita Brothers and the 10-piece Soul X (pictured). Note: This is a pet-free zone.Tuesdays, June 7 - Aug. 2, 7pm - 8:30pm; free8310 E. Summer Entertainment Series: The foothills’ Grant Family Theater in Clement Park keeps us on our toes with multiple concerts on varying days of the week and times throughout summer months. You’ll find an array of genres including flamenco, ‘80s, roots rock, R&B, an open mic night and even a ventriloquist act, as well as children-focused shows on Friday mornings. Skyline Summer Concert Series: Spend your Friday lunchtime decompressing near 16th Street Mall with Skyline Park’s daytime summer concert series. The 2011 band schedule has yet to be announced.Fridays in July & August, Noon - 1:15pm; freeSkyline Park, Arapahoe & 16th St.

Confluence Park: Located where Cherry Creek meets South Platte River, scenic Confluence Park will host bands such as the Quemando Salsa Orquesta, The Denver Brass and The Red Sax Quartet.
