Project Syndicate:

NEW YORK – Sooner than expected, the International Monetary Fund will have a new managing director. For more than a decade, I have criticized the Fund’s governance, symbolized by the way its leader is chosen. By gentlemen’s agreement among the majority shareholders – the G-8 – the managing director is to be a European, with Americans in the number two post and at the head of the World Bank.

In May 2011, despite not having a background in economics, Lagarde was mentioned as a possible successor of Dominique Strauss-Kahn as managing director of the International Monetary Fund. Her candidacy received the support of the British and German governments and of other European leaders.[14][15][16]

Lagarde is currently under investigation for settling with Bernard Tapie out of court and authorizing very large payments in his suit with the Crédit Lyonnais, which was publicly owned

A relatively small group of people has managed to enslave most of the world in their tangled web of debt.

The next IMF chief must dissolve the IMF, for the love of God and humanity.

The only reform we will see is privatisation and debt slavery denominated in Yuan or Euros instead of dollars.

Exploitation through privatisation remains the model leverage created by usurous loans to stupid and or corrupt governments.

This from Mr Jean-Claude Juncker, head of the Eurogroup finance ministers and partner of the IMF in this $340Bn Greek debt debacle -

"That means that Greece will have to prove it will be able to meet its budgetary goals for 2011. Greece will have to implement a privatisation programme."

Reform is ephemeral, greed, merciless exploitation and the ability to ignore suffering are the only qualifications you need to be a senior officer of the IMF and World Bank
