Natural Disasters Displaced 42 Million In 2010; Climate Change Could Be Factor, Experts Say

Natural Disasters Displaced Persons

BJOERN H. AMLAND   06/ 6/11 09:40 AM ET   AP

OSLO, Norway — About 42 million people were forced to flee their homes because of natural disasters around the world in 2010, more than double the number during the previous year, experts said Monday.

One reason for the increase in the figure could be climate change, and the international community should be doing more to contain it, the experts said.

The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre said the increase from 17 million displaced people in 2009 was mainly due to the impact of "mega-disasters" such as the massive floods in China and Pakistan and the earthquakes in Chile and Haiti.

It said more than 90 percent of the disaster displacements were caused by weather-related hazards such as floods and storms that were probably impacted by global warming, but it couldn't say to what extent.

"The intensity and frequency of extreme weather events is increasing, and this trend is only set to continue. With all probability, the number of those affected and displaced will rise as human-induced climate change comes into full force," said Elisabeth Rasmusson, the secretary general of the Norwegian Refugee Council.

The monitoring center and refugee council presented the report at an international conference about climate change and displacement in Oslo.

The number of people displaced last year – about 42 million – is roughly the size of Argentina's entire population, and the onslaught of natural disasters so far this year also has been grim.

The March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan left more than 10,000 people dead, some 17,500 missing and about a half-million homeless.

In the United States, tornadoes have wreaked havoc from Alabama to Massachusetts, while floods have inundated states from Montana to Louisiana. In the southwest Missouri city of Joplin, the U.S.'s deadliest tornado in six decades killed at least 141 people and destroyed more than 8,000 homes in a city of about 50,000 people.

Speaking at the Oslo conference, U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres called the issue of climate-related displacement "the defining challenge of our times" and criticized the international community for lacking the political will to reduce to pace of climate change.

"There is increasing evidence to suggest that natural disasters are growing in frequency and intensity and that this is linked to the longer-term process of climate change," Guterres said.

Asia was the hardest hit region last year, with the largest number of displaced people seen in countries such as India, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Indonesia, China and Pakistan.

In China alone, more than 15 million people were forced to leave their homes following floods, while 11 million people were displaced in Pakistan, the report said. The large floods in India in 2009 also continued to force people to leave their homes in 2010.

"This report provides us with evidence of the extent and urgency of the problem that we cannot ignore. We must increase collaborative efforts to prevent displacement by natural disasters, and do a better job of protecting those displaced," Rasmusson said.

Today: The earth is in turmoil with earthquakes and floods, fires, birds falling dead from the sky, fish washing up dead on the shores and people are dying like flies from disasters and /or being made into homeless souls around the world; and people are still separated according to color lines reinforcing the race card game.

Something is not right. We need to check this-invisible war between souls. There’s a war between souls and we-mankind-are smack in the middle being played as souls play the race card game-as we have been for billions of years.

In lieu of these facts, I have determined THERE’S AN INVISIBLE WAR GOING ON: IT’S BETWEEN SOULS. This invisible war is between the older immortal SOULS that created this universe and their young delinquent souls that are trying to destroy everything the CREATORS/older immortal souls made-from Africa to America.

I wrote about this war, DNA manipulation, race issue and disasters around the world in my book “War between Souls over First Universe: Justice Awaits."

A QUOTE FROM MY BOOK:

All souls can earn IMMORTALITY.
The Creators have IMMORTALITY.
The Creators are the' ONLY' ONES
To award IMMORTALITY...

Here's a question.

How much progress could we make toward a clean energy economy if everyone chipped in one dollar a day?

We have to have weather in order to water the planet so that we can grow food and generate relatively moderate temperatures that life can survive in. This process will result in severe weather that will kill a few of us. Plan on it. This weather pattern runs from moderate to sever in 10 year cycles. Plan on it. You can't do anything about it and a tax that the commies want to implement in order to control you will only make more of you starve an unable to keep yourselves cool or warm in severe weather.

Plot on MI5 British TV.
Environmentalists were threatening to set off a bomb that would flood London unless the government released something called Project Aftermath. No one in MI5 had ever heard of this and when they questioned officials they were told that there was no such thing as Project Aftermath.

Like good spooks they knew better than to trust the government so they illegally tapped the Prime Ministers phone and found out that there was indeed something called Project Aftermath and they got a hold of a copy. In it they found that there was an agreement between the British and American governments to essentially cover up and dismiss both global warming and peak oil so that they could take advantage of these very real happenings in the future.

They saw that global warming and peak oil were going to profoundly shape the future of life on earth and rather than do something about it which would cost money they decided to just let it happen and reap the benefits by strategic manipulation of the masses. Rather than trying to fix things they saw it was more advantageous to lull the public with lies and do things like get a stranglehold on the earths resources in the Middle East.

Just 42 million?

Electric cars, light bulbs and solar panels won't change anything as weather becomes extreme. It will worsen as China and India's 2,500,000,000 people move up the success ladder and demand more energy.

Check all earth sciences and you will discover everything in the process of collapse due to over population of the planet including starvation, which has been going on for years, will pick up momentum.

Dufar in the Sudan looks on the surface to be ethnic cleansing. Next time you look, look not at the starving people but the desert they live in that won't support the winners of this war.
The Sahara is moving south at 20 miles a year. Soon they will all starve while in China, 37% of the ground water is not fit for human consumption and 34% of that is not fit for irrigation.

Because of religions grip on procreation, people continue reproducing at a breakneck pace. They refuse to recognize that this planet can%u2019t sustain 7,300,000,000 devouring everything like a plague of locus in a wheat field.

Extreme weather at this point is beyond human reach to repair it. It%u2019s picking up momentum as anything does when going down hill. We don't have 100's of years left in spite of what many people want to believe.

The planet will continue to heat up for the next several thousand years since it is now running on automatic and regardless of what you hear not much can be done about it.

Here is how it works, this is the playbook, make it up as you go along don't worry about the facts and forget that real pollution unlike CO2 is actually a problem. Then use a smear against anyone who doesn't buy into the global warming BS. Because It's much easier to smear someone than to debate. So when anyone questions the theory of global warming or it's effects on the Earth you just have to toss out a few key terms. R a c i s t, always works. Hillbilly isn't bad, ignor ant works, basically anything that is an isult will do. That way you can feel like you won the debate without ever having to think. It works every time.

You're forgetting the bit where you ignore that people DO debate, and you ignore that this isn't an issue of debating, it's an issue of what measurements of the real world show.

Then there's the problem that sometimes people ARE ignorant, and there's nothing wrong with saying it if that's the case.

Oh, and in terms of BS, do you REALLY believe that putting hundreds of billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere has no impact at all?

Dude.

The science behind global warming has been known for 187 years. It was then quantified in the 1850s. Arrhenius was lecturing on anthropogenic climate change before the turn of the 20th century.

Seriously, go find a lab somewhere. Take two chambers, and fill one with air, and the other with carbon dioxide. Shine a friggin light on 'em and take the temperature.

Ta-da! You just proved yourself wrong. In like 10 minutes.

There's nothing speculative or made up about it--- that rumor is only perpetuated by people like you saying so. There is no debate. There is no global conspiracy going on between thousands of scientists in order to make Al Gore rich. Grow the heck up and actually do some research--- don't make a conclusion FIRST, and then go find things to back it up. Take an actual sampling of the literature.

It is absolutely ridiculous that I have to have this argument with anyone. It isn't even complicated science. It's not ballistics, it's not quantum mechanics. It's good old, simple, classical physics that has been known for almost two centuries.

Help yourself to a science book sometime before you come on here rabbling about stuff you don't know.

Ocean produces over 50 percent of world oxygen, so a PoliSci, Econ and Atmospheric Chemistry academic should be able to answer this question.
Has sewage and natural nutrient proliferated ocean micro algae plant vegetable matter been measured and assessed in global warming science?
