'Super 8' New Video Clip: JJ Abrams, Stephen Spielberg's New Epic Reveals Trailer At MTV Movie Awards (VIDEO)

Super 8

The tween heartthrobs of "Twilight" took home the big prizes at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards, but a brief appearance and new clip from a pair of Hollywood superstars made clear they've got the flash to outshine anyone. Even without sparkles and fangs.

JJ Abrams and Stephen Spielberg, along with young stars Joel Courtney and Elle Fanning, presented a brand new clip from their late 70's set science fiction mystery epic, "Super 8," unveiling dramatic, whiz-bang explosions and plenty of concerned looks from star Kyle Chandler.

A shout out to Abrams' days in the late 70's making super 8 movies as a kid, and the massive science fiction thriller Spielberg films from the 70s and 80s, "Super 8" has been stingy in its revelations during a covert marketing campaign, drawing the curtain back a little more each time.

As is Abrams' wont, however, we still don't know what exactly broke loose from that train.

Looking forward to it...As for Cloverfield...I enjoyed the concept of just getting glimpses
of "monsters" in the night. Then your imagination can take over. Its more like life...we never really know what's going to 'get us' until we're face to face.

saw an early screening last night and without giving anything away, if your a fan of The Goonies you should like this. Good fun.

Thank god, I thought I was the only one who had no idea what it was about.

It's visually interesting, but how am I going to know if I wan't to see it if I don't even know what genre it is?

When i first saw the title I immediately thought this was gonna be a live action Digimon movie.

But as far as I can tell it's still just another alien monster movie. Kinda getting saturated these days with those.

After witnessing a mysterious train crash, a group of friends in the summer of 1979 begin noticing strange happenings going around in their small town, and begin to investigate into the creepy phenomenon.

I saw the trailer and I'm actually looking forward to seeing it.

I just hope it's better than Cloverfield, and Hereafter which were extremely painful to watch...especially Cloverfield which was a good concept but the execution was lacking to me.

Agreed on Cloverfield. I actually got annoyed watching it.

Me too. I kept checking my watch hoping it would be over soon. It was extremely annoying.

Reminds me of the last few Alien attack flicks that came out within the past 5 years or so.

I loved Lost but Abrams sometimes holds the mystery above the plot which may make for great action, but ultimately leads too many questions for a satisfying movie. After Cloverfield I wanted to club Abrams for not giving the details on the monster or how it exists and it seems there aren't any prequels in the mix, unless Cloverfield is the thing in Super 8; otherwise I'll wait for Redbox.

Questions are great, as long as at least the big ones are answered.

Yes, I'm still bitter about the LOST finale.

Strangely, I was pretty OK with the ending. I gave up hope on the big questions when I realised what the alternate world was. I still wept like a baby when Sawyer and Juliet figured it out.

I hope it's a movie that we can see with our kids. I'd like for them to look back and remember that we actually did see some movies together. There are so few opportunities%u2014at least of the non-animated kind.
