Joel Heart has it correct - you are spot on with your analysis. I am praying for humility for myself and all who are Believers. The very act of seeking the Lord in prayer is an act of a humble heart for it is admitting one's lack of ability to achieve something without the help of God. We've had over 535 men and women trying to solve our problems in Washington for years - these are the best America can choose to run our nation. In addition each state, county, and town has elected the best of the best. And things are getting worse and worse - let's admit our inability to control things and ask God for His mercy and grace to once more bless this nation with revival of the body of Christ and awakening of the lost to His Holy Spirit. As you pointed out - Christians need to turn from their wicked ways, myself included, and stop being hypocrites. It does have to start with us - that's what this event is all about. Let's live humble, holy lives for His glory - then the rest of 2 Chronicles 7:14's promise will come - "then I will hear from Heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land." Hallelujah!

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If my people.." this is/was not directed at the general population, "humble themselves..." very hard to do when your self-righteous, "turn from their wicked ways..." not the wicked ways of the general population of the land. They can pray until they turn blue, but unless they pray for the forgiveness of their own "missing the mark" it's a futile effort. God CLEARLY states that unless they ask for forgiveness and turing from their wicked ways their prayers will go unanswered, it's like "knock, knock, knockin' on heavens door,,," but He's not answerin'.

Thank God, our freedom of speech and religion in this country is finely being allowed on the side of Christians. Most of the time only those who oppose Christianity are heard.
I don't know anything about the TX politics so I will not commit on that, but I Know that prayer works and it is one of the things God has called Christians to do. Someone said that because we have no answers we are now using prayer. The only thing wrong with that is we should pray first, then look for answers to the problem. Christians are the only group of people in this country that are still allowed to be repressed. At this time in our history there is nothing better than for us to come together and pray!

Way to go Rick. Great follow up to your three days of prayer for rain in Texas. Let's see, those were April 22nd to April 24th. And it was so successful...let me check the numbers...yes, since the three days of prayer for rain we have had NADA, ZERO, ZILCH rain in the state. THREE days of prayer for rain and we are still in a drought and the US Ag Dept has declared the ENTIRE State of Texas a disaster area.
Rick Perry brings shame to my state.

Yes, because clasping our hands together and wishing for all of our problems to just go away is most certainly going to work.

Christian Prayer Day? Is that a day when all Christians say, "Look at me, look at me, I'm praying, today." Does that make them feel better all the other days, when they're smugly cheating everyone else out of the American Dream?

I live in Houston, and I am a Chgo. Transplant. I am 72. Perry is a self proclaimed God down here. But budget, police, teachers, jobs and especially his politics with lobbyists for oil drilling leases with BP and overseas companies hurt all the economy. Worse yet, people re_elected him gov. Yet again. Brainless puppets

What happened to analysis of issues?

What happened to devising appropriate remedies based upon research?

What happened to a phased approach in resolution implementation?

This country is lost without this methodology.

prayer isn't a response. it's silliness. but whatever makes you feel good.

in terms of responding to problems, we might choose to really look at them, at the facts, and then choose to take action rather than dream away in prayer-land and wait for the day some fairies lift us up and take us away so we can live with the big meany in the clouds.
