Bryan Stow Beating Suspect's Lawyers Move To Hold LAPD's Video Evidence

Giovani Ramirez

Lawyers for Giovanni Ramirez, who is suspected of beating Giants fan Bryan Stow at Dodgers Stadium, are on the hunt for surveillance footage depicting their client with hair on the day of the attack.

Ramirez's defense team is canvasing his neighborhood for any and all security cameras that may have filmed Ramirez with a full head of hair. His lawyers have also obtained a court ruling mandating that any of the photographic evidence the LAPD comes across be preserved.

Especially crucial to Ramirez's case are a security camera from the Comfort Inn where he claims to have spent the night, as well as a camera from a nearby gas station.

A reply to Spank05 who I don't see here. Yes, I am fluxomed. I'd wanted a rah rah got the guy dead/cold for the horrid attack ending. I'd LIKE to respect the LAPD. Heck I'm a skinny, white blonde..nothing to fear right!? Yet, I've never, since 1979 when I moved to LA, been protected (armed robbery..gun in face... when thugs left us alive..thank gawd...we found the police a block away..one example)..then.a head on collison..other (teen, uninsured) driver at fault..the LAPD, thought I was dead and were SO relieved I regain consciousness and said WE"LL testify...found out later (via atty) they were in pursuit of the girl (speeding) who hit me...guess what..any testimony would have put them at risk so.."no comment". (ruined my credit..as I had to file chap 7 from med. expenses AFTER the cops assured me the at fault driver WAS insured..tah dah..her mom's car..she was not). Also, during LA riots (R. King)..riding a bike on sidewalk to avoid violence in the street..a TICKET for riding a bike on a sidewalk (while stores were burning). Yeah.good job LAPD. I know there are good cops; I've not seen them.

pictures of the suspect 20 minuts prior to the attack will not prove his inocence as it took less than 10 minjutes to shave my head so I shave my head at 4: 30 in the afternoon or for that matter ju7st b eforee going to the stadium and then i beat the daylights out of a man at 7:30 how does a picture of me at two in the afternoon exonerate me.

You've got the days switched. He had hair on the day of the beating and shaved it the day after the beating, so his lawyers say

The Los Angeles DA will dither along until it's obvious the DA has the wrong man in custody

I had a case where the DA had an innocent guy and when I asked why they were prosecuting him when they knew he was innocent, the Deputy DA replied, "Because he is a bad person and I want to get as much prison time on him as I can."

(1) He was not a bad person -- he was homeless, those of two different things;

(2) If he was a "bad person," in this country we are not supposed to manufacture false evidence to convict innocent people because the DA thinks that they are bad.

Between the LAPD, the DA and many criminal court judges, the LAPD is the best, the DA is atrocious and the judges support the entire corrupt system as more convictions help the judge's careers.

If the LAPD is so certain they have the right person, why don't they show everything the motel and Shell photos? Because the DA won't let them.

In the video, I hear the suspect looks like a medieval warrior.

It was a lame Napoleon Dynamite reference. I apologize.

The guy looks like a criminal because he IS one - he was 'turned in' by his parole officer of all people. That doesn't mean he is the one who attacked Stowe. In fact, I think the case is falling apart and this will be a huge embarrassment to LAPD, which I would relish in except for the fact that means the real attacker is still out there.

The LAPD is an embarrassment itself. Since Rampart Division and OJ, they have been one big, long epic fail.

Sadly, the guy just LOOKS so guilty and like the artist's sketching. I jumped on board and convicted him. NOW, oh my gosh, if truly he had long (or any) hair before the beating; the hunt goes on. So who IS the girl in the photo? As the lapd said they were looking for a girl who drove the get a way car. Now, too many ?'s to assume this bad looking guy IS the criminal here. LAPD and prosecutors had BETTER turn over over last piece of evidence. We cannot send an innocent man (even one that looks scary) to prison while the real monster is out there laughing at all of us.

I do not think he looks like the police sketch. I believe viewer's background is relevant. Since I have lived in the barrio for years, since I was a gang worker and a probation officer, and then worked with hundreds of youth from East LA on a number of projects, when I look at the sketch, I am not distracted by his bald head. My brain already knows that the bald head is not a distinguishing characteristic for me. My brain has enough experience to discard the baldness and to search its memory banks for bald guys with his other features.

Of course, if he had hair, my brain would ignore all memories of bald gang bangers. I suspect that too many people know enough gang bangers not to unduly focus on his baldness.

On the other hand, I have no conclusions whether he is the right guy. We need evidence and the DA is withholding that evidence from the defense, the press and the public. In theory the DA's goal is justice -- to exonerate the innocent as well as convict the guilty. If Ramirez was not bald on the day of the attack, he is not the attacker.

So this crucial, exculpatory information is just *now* coming out?

"Ramirez's defense team is canvasing his neighborhood for any and all security cameras that may have filmed Ramirez with a full head of hair."

They CLAIM video is out there but no one's seen any such video as of yet.

Regardless, his attorney is doing an admirable job of arguing reasonable doubt in the media.

the problem is, as stated in the video, that the surveillance footage records on top of itself after about a week in most the CCTV systems. Surveillance footage is usually grabbed right after a burglary or murder. The defense could use this to their advantage though and try to pretend that its not fair.

My point was...If they were looking for a bald suspect and I had hair the day this happened, *that* would have been the ***first*** thing i would have stated. It *wouldn't* come out a *week* after I became the main suspect.
