Michelle Obama, Sarah Palin, Hillary Clinton & More Get Makeovers (PHOTOS, POLL)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 06/07/11 12:20 PM ET   Updated: 08/07/11 06:12 AM ET

FLOTUS in Proenza and chunky Alex Wang heels? Hillary Clinton in a perfectly-tailored, Rick Owens evening gown? Cameroon's Chantal Biya in a Gaga-worthy, Mugler getup?

Sounds like some serious sartorial stretches, but they don't look too bad on paper! As part of a collaboration with Robb Young, author of Power Dressing: First Ladies, Women Politicians & Fashion, Vogue UK got its hands on a set of illustrations by Charlotte Hoyle depicting our favorite politicos made over by a slew of established editors.

Check out a handful of the sketches below. And for the rest, head over to Vogue.co.uk.

Summer is here again and I wish Sarah Palin was in summer school, not flirting with the campaign trail.

Actually three of them have never been elected. They are wives of politicos, not politicos themselves.

These are simply some of the ugliest designs drawn in the most incompetent manner I have seen in my many years in design. My first year graphic design students have more fashion sense and more ability to render fashion illustrations than these, what, professionals?

What an embarrassment to HuffPo. Speaking of something that needs a makeover.

Our favorite female politicos? Sounds like any and all female politicos. It is surprising that being female in politics is such a definer, sometimes, but then you see all the problems, and it would probably drive most women nutty.

Good point. Favorite politicos, indeed.

If the goal as stated was to make over certain women in politics to give them a power look while retaining a certain "feminine" look (hmmm), then I suggest clean strong lines, no matter the color, few patterns, some stripes, no flowers, and pumps both stylish and comfortable. A bold piece of signature jewelry (think Madeline Albright's signature "message" brooches/pins or FLOTUS' big chunk bracelets or multiple thin ones), perhaps serious metal (18k gold or sterling) earrings that draw attention to the woman's face behind which lies the wisdom, presumably.

When the press and public ogle the clothes instead of paying attention to the substance it further trivializes the woman and compromises her ability to execute her job with authority. I actually thought that Condoleeza Rice had a few great style moments...she rocked the black leather boots with a vengeance. Nothing says "I mean business" like storm trooper boots. And she was avery much a war SOS.

Of course, most of the rest of the time she looked like a school marm, perhaps sharing her wardrobe with Harriet Miers.

These so-called makeovers look like a naive fantasy of the political Supremes meet the political Dream Girls (what's with the mike in FLOTUS' hand?) Overdone, overwrought, over the top. And really, really bad footwear.

Whew, that was fun.

Slim, smart, stylish Sarah Palin never needs a make-over. She has discovered the fabled Fountain of Youth on her Wasilla property.

OMG, imagine Michelle Obama dressing that way!

I can see why these people are editors, not designers.

Horror of horrors, except, perhaps for Hillary Clinton's. She would look good in the design.

Boring. Every single look. And who the hell drew these sketches? Certainly no one in fashion.

Um... These are not photos... no offense intended to the designer, but since selling to AOL, HuffPo has lowered its standards greivously.
