Politician Sex Scandals: Which Wives Stood By Their Men? (WATCH)

Though Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner apologized to his wife Huma Abedin numerous times throughout Monday's news conference--where he confessed to having inappropriate online and telephone relationships with six women over the course of three years--Abedin, who married Weiner less than a year ago, was absent. In response to a reporter's question about her whereabouts, Weiner remarked, "She is not here."

When scandal-mired politicians acknowledge personal transgressions, their wives have a choice: Brave the humiliation and stand by their men? Or stay out of the public eye and deal with the pain privately?

These nine politicians faced the public and the press after their scandals were revealed--some with their wives by their side, and others without. It begs the question: Would you #standbyyourman?

Former Idaho congressman Larry Craig pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of "disorderly conduct" in August 2007 after being arrested on suspicion of lewd conduct in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in June. His wife, Suzanne Thompson, stood by his side at an August 2007 press conference in which he maintained his innocence and stated that he regretted his guilty plea. He and Thompson are still together.

Former South Carolina governor Mark Sanford sex affair was the worst in American history. This young man left all American women and travel all the way to Argentina for a used woman leaving his wife alone with children. The worst part is when his wife invited other women to move out of state mansion. That was most embarrassing for Sanford. These republicans must be hard-skinned. Remember Newt Gingrich affairs. He dumped his ailing wife for a office woman. And GOP leaders tell us they are God-lovers. Sure!

And they want to apply consequences to Anthony? Hyprocrites.There should be an entire overahaul of COngress-not just Weiner (what a name by the way)

I am so glad Anthony Weiner did not drag his wife to his press conference. I absolutely HATE it when wives are forced to stand their and smile.

I've notice that there is a clenched, regretful face photo of most of these politicians. Usually taken during their mea-culpa press conference. Spitzer has it, that sour-sucking lip picture. And now Tony has one.
