Gabrielle Giffords Birthday Spent Working On Rehab In Houston

HOUSTON -- Rep. Gabrielle Giffords turned 41 Wednesday, five months to the day after she was shot in the head in a Tucson shooting rampage that killed six people.

Giffords spokesman C.J. Karamargin says the Arizona Congresswoman's staff sang her "Happy Birthday" over the phone and sent her a framed cartoon that shows her and astronaut husband Mark Kelly in space.

The drawing, by syndicated Omaha cartoonist Jeff Koterba, was published in April, and shows Kelly and Giffords holding hands, wearing space suits.

The cartoon reads: "Mark Kelly, Endeavor. Gabrielle Giffords, courage."

Karamargin says Giffords thanked everyone for the birthday wishes, and spent most of the day continuing with her therapy.

Kelly returned June 1 to Earth on space shuttle Endeavor after about two weeks in space in NASA's second-to-last shuttle mission.

I had never heard of her before the shooting, but knowing what I've learned about her since, she seems like a great person and representative.

She has done astonishingly well. Interesting that stubborn gal won't take a day off therapy even to celebrate a birthday. That is one determined lady.
I am so grateful she is doing so well and pray she is back to her full life soon. Her husband is wonderful and no doubt is cheering her on. The daunting task of recovery has to be eased somewhat knowing the world is cheering her on.
May the Good Lord continue to richly bless her.

Gabbie cant exactly go to Damonds, or the Spaggettie Oven, unless they have a special room! she has lost a good part of her skull and she will need plastic surgery, or did you think the lack of photos is because they dont have tweet service in Texas? Happy Birthday Gabbie, get well sooner!
