Ed Schultz Begs Anthony Weiner To Resign (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/09/11 09:47 AM ET Updated: 08/09/11 06:12 AM ET

Ed Schultz begged Anthony Weiner to resign on his Wednesday show.

The Weiner scandal is only growing, with Wednesday bringing the release of explicit photos of the Congressman and the news that his wife, Huma Abedin, is pregnant. Schultz seemed almost distraught as he opened the show.

"This might not be a very good show for me, because I'm not real happy the way this is unfolding," he said.

Schultz told Weiner, "i hope you're watching tonight." He said the scandal was hurting the liberal movement, and he repeated his opinion that Weiner has become too much of a liability.

"You've become just a tool for the right wing who wants to destroy all of the people who are advocating for the very policies that you fought so hard for!" he said to Weiner (who was probably not watching), shouting the last few words. "Please resign! Please...this is bigger than you."

Schultz also told Weiner, "the fact that your wife is pregnant is awesome!"

This is the first time I ever thought Ed Shultz was right about anything. "Anthony Weiner is a TOOL!"

Resign, Ed Schultz. What happened to you? You're the tool for the right wing here, and you are so clearly a major reason why this issue is still in the news as a distraction at all. How many times do you have to take a poll? Time and time again, the results show that the voters want him in office. I wish you'd go away now.

I'm glad AC360 is on elsewhere after TRMS. No talking head is going to twist my arm into submission as I don't care who they think they are.

"Hmmm. So let me make sure I understand Ed's (and a bunch of other liberals) position on this. The media latches onto an utterly ordinary sex scandal (allowing it to trump extraordinary national and world events and issues) and we respond by driving the object of its morbid (but fleeting) fascination out of office... even when this scoundrel-of-the-day has proven himself a valuable and highly effective champion of our liberal cause... and conservatives get to keep their highly effective (and by that I mean destructive) but tainted scoundrels?

Why do we keep letting conservatives name and change the rules as it suits them?

So next week, Big Ed, call for David "Diapers" Vitter to resign. At least no one has committed suicide during the Weiner debacle. I still don't believe that the DC madam Vitter patronized committed suicide, especially since she announced on radio previously that she was worried about being "suicided."

Ed Shultz is an ex- right wing talker who claims to have "seen the light."

Unfortunately, he still thinks like a conservative. He likes to call people who do not agree with him "unAmerican" and uses bluster over intelligent debate.

He does little for the progressive movement.

Liberal has a scandal, right is outraged, liberal resigns.

Conservative has a scandal, left is outraged, conservative stays and gets re-elected.

No!!! Why should he. Is what he did creepy? Yes.
Illegal? No. Vitter patronized prostitutes, which IS
Illegal, yet still in thew Senate.
Weiner should stay and come out swinging, saying
"Yeah, I screwed up, now let me do my job".
To hell with the calls from resignation,
and that includes you,Ed!!

AND Vitter's prostitute source, the DC Madam, "committed suicide" just days after telling a radio audience that she was afraid of being "suicided" by powerful people who were afraid of her going to trial.

I'm surprised you got that posted.
I can't get them to post anything about a former C0ngressman,
now with his own morning coffee show, who had a ded (sic)
woman found dead in his Congressio0nal office in Fla.

Ed Schultz is a windbag. He does nothing for the left and his rants just help us lose credibility. More folks like Maddow and ODonnell. Wish Olbermann would come back too. MSNBC is much weaker than it was when Keith was there. Intelligence is alway best.
10:10 AM on 06/12/2011
I totally agree. As far as I'm concerned the MSNBC lineup ends after Maddow. Schultz lost me when he danced on Olberman's grave on his radio show by crowing how good the new time slot would be for him. He has always struck me as a left leaning less articulate Limbaugh.

Ed Schultz is starting to remind me of Rush Phlegmball or Glenn Beck.

As he is an ex- right wing talker, I'm not suprised. He needed to leave his blustery bad habits with the dittoheads. Progressives are not as interested in bombast.

Weiner's constituents will either vote him in or out - Vitter's Constituents voted him back in, that's why he is still in Congress. I'm surprised at the 'spunk' the Democratic leadership is showing by asking him to resign - wish they would show that much spunk in creating jobs, jobs, jobs.

I like Ed, but he rants way too much. It taints whatever good points he might be making.

The voters in his district can decide what Anthony Weiner should do, in Nov. 2112
