Natalie Portman's 30th Birthday: 'Black Swan' Star Through The Years (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 06/09/11 03:47 PM ET   Updated: 08/09/11 06:12 AM ET

Natalie Portman is set to celebrate the birth of her first child sometime very soon, but today, it's all about her. The actress was born 30 years ago today, in Israel.

From her debut in "Leon: The Professional" to her major three part saga in the "Star Wars," prequels, Portman has become one of her generation's most iconic actresses. With her memorable turn in "Black Swan," she joined the rare club of Oscar winners, and has come out with three movies already this year: "Your Highness," "Hesher," and "Thor."

To mark the reigning Best Actress Oscar-winner's big day, we've compiled the top looks in her already illustrious 25-year career.

What movie is picture #8 from? I want to watch it, whatever it is. Natalie Portman is the most attractive woman ever to appear in any Star Wars movies, and frankly without her beauty making things slightly interesting, the overwhelming number of negative aspects of Star Wars episodes 1 thru 3 would render them unwatchable. For instance, in Star Wars episode 3, Anakin Skywalker's character's change in personality was not believable; I found it impossible to believe that the character Anakin Skywalker from the previous 2 movies would completely change his personality based on so little. Jar Jar Binks was of course awful. And the idea that people would find Palpatine charismatic enough to choose as their leader was completely absurd. Also in the first movie, Palpatine had a bunch of robots attack the planet that he was from himself, as the main conflict in the story, which is just absurd and pointless. Anyway, Natalie Portman is far better than those 3 awful Star Wars movies she was in with their terrible acting, absurd plotlines, and overblown special effects, and I would REALLY like to see the movie that picture #8 is from.

Finally saw 'Black Swan'. One very creepy movie, but she did a better than average acting job.

I've liked her in everything thing I've seen her in so far. Evan that dreadful Phantom Menace.

For someone who considers herself a thespian, I am not overly impressed with her work to date except for Closer and Black Swan, of course. She's also a little high and mighty for my taste; a bit of snob from what I hear so but maybe she'll mellow with age....

I would generally tend to agree, but I also liked her in Garden State.
