Joplin is certainly thankful for their donation as well as the donations and efforts of many who have come to the aid of our wounded city. If you would like to help, follow the link to the YouTube video below - then go to the link in the video description. Donate however much you would like, even just a dollar will help! All proceeds will go to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks and directly aid the Joplin recovery effort. Thank you.

Brad needs to set aside some of that $$ to buy the lady a couple of cheeseburgers.

Good for them. I know that isn't a big amount to them, with the money they make, but they are trying to do the right thing. I do think Brad Pitt is really nice guy and cares about people.

After reading some of the posts here about a good thing I see the way we as a country are failing. These two have done more for others than many many people with money and because they are who they are it will be reported. So if they get a tax break by putting it in a foundation so what? Aren't the people in Joplin still being helped? The foundation probably is fair in distributing the money and I'd much rather they get a tax break for doing good than giving tax breaks to big oil and farmers just for existing. I think they re great.

Wait so yet again through their OWN foundation - they donated - why not just contribute the money directly - big donation to get big taxbreaks from an already beleagured government who will then have less money to spend on natural disasters - Well done JP

They didn't want their money getting into the wrong hands. The GOP House handles the money these days, you know. That money could end up in the deepest pockets in the country.

Although I appreciate their willingness to give, what is the reason for making it public and did they do so or did the recipients make the gift public. ? If they instead gave a challenge gift, then I could see the publicity. It just seems that individual and corporate contributions where they simply must have publicity is a little less giving than the thousands of us who do it with no other thought than that the need is great. I don't see these two much differently than I see the very richest tea party funder giving to our city with the expectations of everything touting his last name...except they do seem to have a greater community of the world spirit and involvement i hoping the rebuilding will be "greener" than what existed before. I rather prefer when people give like this, they stipulate they will match gifts of as many people as they can get to add to the cause. Thousands of people in my city have given money and time and products that are very needed with little of not publicity and do it at every catastrophe be it Greensburg, Lebo or Joplin.

They "donate" incessantly, but no one ever gets the money.

You shouldn't say something like that without back up. The people in New Orleans who have gotten homes would disagree with you.

there will still be people complaining about their donation. I think we should be thankful for all of the good they do for the world. if someone thinks they should be donating or doing in a different way, well, they should go ahead and do that, and not criticize when anyone else donates in their way. we all need to do what we can.

Jesus WAS a liberal. He loved all kinds of people, rich and poor, but especially the poor.
