Elizabeth Warren should run for the Senate.

"No matter how effective the consumer bureau, it's harder to play that role when one of your job functions is adviser to the president. But if elected to the Senate, she instantly becomes a key national leader of American progressivism."

In case you haven't been paying attention, 2012 will be about purging progressives.....not electing them.

Elizabeth Warren is the Progressive that Obama fooled America into believing he was when the fact is that he is a 1960's Ronnie Raygun Republican. That is why he spends more time trying to please the Republiwon'ts than he does trying to please the People who voted for him. Even when he was in the Illinois Legislature he was a corporatist. Those of us who followed and voted for Ralph Nader have not been suprised by anything Obysmal has done and one of those things is that he has failed to back a single Progressive/Liberal appointment since he was elected. The only reason that Warren is his adviser is that old saying about keeping your friends closer but your enemies closer. Obysmal sees Warren as an enemy because if she were the head of the CFPB she would stop the Banking and Wallstreet criminals from doing what they are doing. That would cost him campaign contributions and his Super inflated ego demands another 4 years. That is far more important than doing the right thing any day. His former mentor, Rev Wright said, "someday Obama will no longer be President but I will always be a minister." That is the real difference between the two men, one has honor, integrity, and honesty while the other one will throw anyone anytime under the bus to get what he wants...even a whole nation!

Wouldn't it be nice if the president would get behind her instead of kowtowing to the Goldman-Sachs crowd? We might actually see some of the change he promised.

Again a ploy to try to eliminate a person that can see through the financial industries scams. To be one of a 100 senators is less threatening than the head of an agency that might be able to hold folks accountable.
I'd rather see her head of the CFPB, but I agree with the clone statement. She'd be great as a senator too.

E. Warren is the best. Love, love, love her! Absolute best professor I've ever had.

I definitely think this rage re her lack of recess appointment is misdirected though. And I wish articles like this one and Linkins yesterday would discuss how repubs are keeping the Senate in session to deliberately block Obama's ability to make recess appointments. I'm still fuming over them blocking Liu's appointment to the federal bench. That guy was seriously awesome too.

That said, its a bit strange (and awesome) that she's now seen as such a strong progressive voice - while she was HLS she did a lot of consulting for some pretty huge corporate shops like Goldman and Weil.

FDR Also worked as a corporate lawyer. It's the insiders who know the con who can have the most effect, if they have the heart.

I could easily get behind Ms. Warren should she run for president in '16. However, I think she's too smart to do it.

Man, she'd be such a great President! She may also feel as though she's getting a bit too old to run for Pres a la Hilary.

Can we please get just one progressive in charge of an important bureau in Washington with the power to regulate? Corps own everything else, how about just one little office for the middle class?

If you want more progressive obviously don't vote GOP, but more importantly vote for the Progressive Caucus Democrats in the PRIMARIES. Learn about the split in the Dems: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democratic_Leadership_Council
