It's hot and muggy. But instead of going gentle into that hot and humid night, we decided to fight fire with fire. So with the help of crazy dance parties, humid trysts at the Highline park and mirage-like plays, we're turning heat-wave into heat-rave. Dylan Thomas said it best: Go forth and rave, rave against the dying of the light.

Big Apple Barbecue Block Party
WHAT: The best BBQ grill-masters in the country, assembled to share their smoky goodness.
WHY: Uhm, unless you’re vegan, we shouldn’t have to tell you why.
WHEN: Saturday & Sunday; 11AM-6PM
WHERE: Madison Square Park

World Naked Bike Ride
WHAT: A nudie zip around the city to raise awareness for green transportation and the environment.
WHY: The heat already has you wishing you were naked, so you might as well get naked for a cause. (P.S. It’s legal to be topless in NYC in case you're wondering.)
WHEN: Saturday 3PM, meet-up and body painting
WHERE: East River Park -- under the Manhattan bridge, just off Delancey.

Theophilus London @ Brooklyn Museum
WHAT: Theophilus=Kanye flow + Jay-z’s cool, cool swagger. (Listen)
WHY: It’s free, and we really like this guy. Plus, he’s “Brooklyn.”
WHEN: Doors, 6:30 PM ; Performance, 7PM
WHERE: Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway; 718-638-5000

Stroll the New Section of the Highline
WHAT: Part II of the Highline opened this week, so check it out
WHY: Lush lawn, wild flower field, more room to meander.
WHEN: 7AM-11PM, daily
WHERE: Btwn Gansevoort and 30th St. (see map for access points)

The Illusion @ Signature Theatre Company
WHAT: Kushner’s layered, playful look at artifice and illusion.
WHY: If words were photons, Tony Kushner would be a light-show.
WHEN: Friday 8 PM; Saturday 2PM, 8PM; Sunday 2PM (Hint: if sold out, do the rush waitlist)
WHERE: The Peter Norton Space; 555 W 42nd St; 212-244-7529

CHERYL: Administrative Soul @ Bellhouse
WHAT: A killer dance party/farce put on by the zany (insane?) members of CHERYL.
WHY: The theme -- Administrative Soul -- laughs in the face of our 9-5 zombiedom with wigs, fake blood, and kitty facepaint. P.S. Their video for the event is unequalled.
WHERE: The Bell House, 149 7th St., BK
