While just less than two weeks remain before Chicago's annual Pride Parade takes over the streets of East Lakeview in its typically raucous fashion, the city's LGBT and queer-friendly residents still have plenty of other opportunities to get in a celebratory mood in the days ahead. As such, we decided to handpick some of the city's most queertastic upcoming events.

And for those of you planning ahead, the parade steps off at noon on Sunday, June 26, from the corner of Halsted and Belmont. This year's parade will feature some 250 entries, including the city's new mayor, Rahm Emanuel, who has one-upped has predecessor by planning to march in the event, as he announced at his inaugural Pride reception last week.

Also announced last week was the parade's grand marshal: bisexual "Real Housewife of Orange County" cast member, fitness guru and activist Fernanda Rocha. Previous parade marshals in recent years have included Chely Wright, Amanda Billings, Eric Alva and George Takei.
