Eric Bolling Accused Of 'Revolting Racism' For Obama 'Hizzouse' Comments (VIDEO)

First Posted: 06/13/11 04:19 PM ET Updated: 08/13/11 06:12 AM ET

UPDATE: On his Monday show, Fox Business host Eric Bolling apologized for his comments about President Obama.

"On Friday, we did a story about the president meeting with the president of Gabon," Bolling said. "We got a little fast and loose with the language, and we know it's been interpreted as being disrespectful, and for that, I'm sorry. We did go a bit too far."

WATCH:

ORIGINAL POST: Fox Business host Eric Bolling is drawing fire for comments he made about President Obama on Friday.

On his show "Follow The Money," Bolling criticized Obama's visit with Ali Bongo, the president of Gabon, by saying, "Guess who's coming to dinner? A dictator. Mr. Obama shares a laugh with one of Africa's kleptocrats. It's not the first time he's had a hoodlum in the hizzouse."

As he said "hizzouse," a picture of rapper Common appeared on the screen. Common's appearance at a White House poetry event drew loud complaints from conservatives.

WATCH:

Later, Bolling made similar comments. "What's with all the hoods in the hizzy?" he asked, saying that Bongo has been "accused of human rights violations and plundering billions of his country's dollars."

WATCH:

The Atlantic's Jeffrey Goldberg called the comments "open, and revolting, anti-Obama racism" in a blog post on Sunday.

Bolling defended himself on Twitter and Facebook, saying that he was merely criticizing the visit and linking to other outlets that had done so as well.

Faux Business Channel seldom got the criticism it deserved prior to Bolings replacement of Beck. They probably do more damage than Faux Noise, because the elderly who watch are getting biased Fianacial "News". I'd call it Criminal, and now with News Corpse dying & under investigation there is hope that TRUTH will prevail. It is letting Billionaires like Berlisconi take over the NEWS and OUR AIRWAYS that has contributed to this Financial Crisis. Sure... lets hear it for Billionaire BS Channel. SHAME ! And yes... I spelled it CORPSE. Dead Decaying Putrid Faux NEWS.

Well, no love for this man, but why the hell is Obama inviting performance artists to the white house is beyond me. Perhaps some kind of a political maneuver meant to solicit votes from the urban youth? Either way...making fun of a social gaffe the president made is hardly racist. We made plenty while Bush was in office and the ridiculous assaults launched by his supporters just made the entire GoP look bad.

Just as this attack on Bolling makes the Dems look like a bunch of hyper-sensitive pansies. Its a political attack on a dissenter. Plain and simple. Attack him on relevant issues all you want. The fact his show is posting incorrect data, or suggesting investments which he himself holds. But the language used to criticize the POTUS is still protected under free speech last I checked.

You know, objecting to racist innuendos is also free speech. And just to bring you up to date, Common was invited to the White House along with several other poets and Fox, who had previously honored him on their programing, in order to once again get at this President, started this deal about "thugs" being invited to the White House.

Common happens to be very popular with more than just urban youth. I think it was a great idea because (and I know this may not apply to you) the White House belongs to all the people - young & old, urban, suburban & rural contrary to what those on the right think. In addition, his lyrics have been blown way out of proportion. I think the comments that that police representatvie made on this are really reprehensible. Cops get killed all the time in the movies & are constantly portrayed in negative lights (some warranted, some not). Did he get his panties in a twist over those references, too? I don't think so because he wouldn't have gotten to use fox as a megaphone - too many fox productions could be called out, I venture. And I can guarantee you that many of the media moguls responsible for those popular references have been invited on many occasions to visit the White House with republican & democratic presidents. Enough already with that complaint!

Wait a minute... it looks to me like this guy just called two guys hoodlums. He thinks those two guys are hoodlums, and judging by the Gabonese president's status as a dictator and from the things I've heard about Common's opinions about the police, I can see where he's coming from. What makes you think there's a connection between the fact that both of them are black, and both of them are hoodlums? Is there something inherently black about being a hoodlum? Are you suggesting that only black people are hoodlums or worse, are you suggesting that all black people are hoodlums? Because if that's what you're suggesting, it looks like YOU'RE a racist, and not this guy.

Clueless comment. One need not be a racist to point out someone obviously pandering to stereotypes. If you dont see that, you are either incapable, which is pathetic; or unwilling, which is closed-minded, disingenuous, and sad.

I've never known so many thinner skinned, whinier, purposely disengenuous old white men (mostly) in my over 50 years in both the media & Congress (and I'm looking at you, Pat Buchanan & Rupert Murdoch.) When they get criticized they whine they are being discriminated against or persecuted. But they feel free to criticize (and often demonize) those they disagree with with impunity. I can't stand fox any more. I think I'm going to have to block their entertainment channels from my tv (I already do that with fox news tho haven't gotten to do the newest one yet). I will miss the Simpsons but that's it.

All the negative things that people say against different races only mean that they are uninsure of themselves and it makes them feel big. This is the same thing the slave owners did to slave back into slavery by demeaning the blacks to keep them in their place.

It didn't work then and it won't work now. Even then slaves was smart enough to learn language that was not their own and turn it around against the white slave owners. When slaves would sing in the fields, cook house or just sitting around, they were using the words of the white slave owners to tell others what to do and who to look out for. They used those words as codes for different things that they want to do.

Today the older generations who have drilled into their children, grandchildren to be fearful of the blacks because they was cunning and slick, which actually meant they were a lttle bit smarter than they were and they would someday be overtop of them and telling them what to do. This is what they see when they see President Obama, not as president of the united states but a black man overtop of the white man giving them orders. It was find when the status quo was in charge but in their mind the tables have turned and they must find a way to turn the tables back

There is no racism in this country, right? Neal Boortz, Jun 14 2011. "And we got too damn many urban thugs, yo, ruining the quality of life for everybody. And I'll tell you what it's gonna take. You people, you are - you need to have a gun. You need to have training. You need to know how to use that gun. You need to get a permit to carry that gun. And you do in fact need to carry that gun and we need to see some dead thugs littering the landscape..."

This is how I imagine the non-apology writing session went:
"...'and we know it's been interpreted by you people as being disrespectful...' Hey, should this be, 'by you people' or 'by those people'?"

"Hmm... probably 'those people' because I don't think that any of them watch Fox."

"Yeah, but I don't want to offend those people by saying 'those people' if there are some of those people watching... maybe I should just drop it."
